French Onion Dip From Scratch

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2012
Oh, my gosh! This was stinkin' fantastic!! I felt so stupid trying to make chip dip from scratch instead of buying a cheap premade tub. DO it!!! Totally superior dip! YUMMMM

Korean Spicy Marinated Pork (Dae Ji Bool Gogi)

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2012
This is outrageously good! I'm making it tonight for the third time this week! First time was with pork, and it was delicious. Had to try it again with beef. Incredible!! Highly recommend it!

French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
DEElicious! The only change I made was to caramelize the onions in a mix of olive oil and butter and let them cook a lot longer at a lower heat. But that's why I love to cook soup. I make a day out of it. Thanks, Don!

Remoulade Sauce a la New Orleans

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2011
Yowza. More delicious than I thought it would be. I like Thousand Island dressing, so I was pretty sure I'd like it, but the family does not. I made Crab and Shrimp Louis from this site, but replaced the dressing in that recipe with this sauce. The family RAVED about it. (kinda freaked me out a little) This is good stuff!! UPDATE: Made this again with the old man's "help." He added 1 T. of Tabasco instead of Frank's Louisiana Sauce. WOW! It was really zippy but incredibly delicious!! We used most of it on the Shrimp/Crab Louis Salad on AR and the leftover sauce went on Rueben sandwiches. Can't recommend this stuff highly enough!!

Best Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
Wow! These are great! I never had fried green tomatoes before, but after watching the movie (again :) I had to give them a shot. Very delicious! I changed it up a little by frying in bacon grease instead of oil - enough to cover the bottom of the skillet and come up 1/4" or so was plenty. The best part of this recipe is the coating technique: wet (tomatoes) into dry (flour) into wet (egg/milk mixture) into dry (cornmeal mixture) Worked like a charm! I was totally impressed with how well the coating adhered to the mater slices. YUM! Thanks, Diana!!

Lemon Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
I'm reviewing this recipe not based on taste (cause I didn't get to taste it), but based on CT (Counter Time). Chocolate and/or peanut butter desserts disappear real fast around here. Fruit desserts...not so much. These bars disappeared freakishly fast. That = 5 stars in MY kitchen. Thanks, Nana!

Cindy - You've spread so much love on AR. Here's wishing you just a fraction of what you've given in return. Peace and hugs.

Torsk

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
Oh my gosh!! This is a fantastic recipe if you love lobster, but it's beyond your pay grade. You need to adjust for the thickness of your fillets (boil/broil times), but this is dang close!! The sugar in the boiling mixture adds the sweetness, and the texture of the cod is tender and delicious! I broiled the fish with less butter and ate it with no extra butter, and it was still DELICIOUS!! How good would it be with extra buttah??? Will make again and again and again!!

Sausage Spinach Alfredo Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
This is absolutely fantastic! BUT - there's no way there's enough sauce to hande three layers of noodles. It needs at least half again as much sauce if not twice the amount of sauce. I ended up adding a couple tablespoons of heavy cream between the layers and only used two layers of noodles. The flavor is amazing, though!!! I'll definitely be making this again.

Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: May 28, 2010
This was not good. Cooking time at the top of the recipe says 45 minutes. Directions in step 3 say 1 hour. I baked about 1 hour 10 minutes. Outside edges were very tough and overdone, and the bulk of the 9x13 pan was underdone. It made me sad cause that was a boatload of very nice blackberries... So sorry, Valerie :(

Poppy Seed Bread I

Reviewed: May 28, 2010
The flavor was nice, but it was on the dry side. I used 1/2 t. vanilla extract and 1/2 t. lemon extract instead of 1 full t. of vanilla. I sure hope that didn't affect the moistness of the bread.

Butter Brickle Frozen Delight

I wish I could give this even more stars. My 16 year old son (who rarely comments on my food) took a couple bites of this and launched into a poetic diatribe like "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways." (I think he liked it ;)

I thought this was delicious (but then again, I love spinach). The kicker was...the old man LOVED it! He "hates" spinach. Excellent recipe, Nurse Ellen. Kudos to your mom!

English Muffin Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
This is FANTASTIC! It was a huge hit at Easter brunch. Both grandmas asked for the recipe! It was very much like an eggs benedict casserole. I served some Hollandaise sauce on the side, but the casserole is great with or without the sauce. Thanks for sharing, redamber!
