Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2011
nice recipe! only changes i made were to add some black pepper and used pizza sauce instead of tomato sauce, because the jar was smaller and i didnt want to waste opening a whole jar of tomato sauce when i only needed 1/4 cup. i also added pineapple to the skewers and it paired very nice with the shrimp. thanks for sharing, will be making again!

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
This was a great dish. I was making for 2 and the first time halved the sauce, but it was too little to the next time I kept it as is. I also added broccoli and baby corn. It nice with noodles or rice. Thanks for sharing the recipe

Best Brownies

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
these brownies were good, but not amazing. i was almost afraid to make them due to all the reviews that said they were cake-like, which i cannot stand in a brownie. mine were not cake-like and were fudgy, but not as much as i like. i did make a change to use both brown and white sugar and also added chocolate chips and a splash more vanilla. i also used another frosting so i cant comment on how good that is. from all the brownie recipes ive tried on this site, Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies is still my favourite

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
this was my first time making and tasting quinoa and it was really good! i was only making for 2 ppl so i just used the measurements here as a guide and eyeballed it. i used olive oil instead of veg, chicken broth instead of veg, and also added some chickpeas and other beans to the black, as well as some green onions. not only did it taste good, but knowing how healthy this is, i will be making it again and again!

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
this was my first time making bread on the bread machine and it turned out amazing! the bread was really delicious and tasted just like it was from a bakery. i didnt have milk powder, so used 1 cup water and 1/8 cup milk, and also didnt have shortening so used 2 tbsp vegetable oil. will be making again and again. thanks for the wonderful recipe!

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
this was really good! i sweated the eggplant with salt for 30 mins and then rinsed with cold water. i also dipped the slices in flour before the egg and added some extra seasoning to the italian breadcrumbs. i baked the slices for 10 mins on each side before layering and used a mix of mozzarella, cheddar and parm. i forgot to peel and it still tasted great with the peel on. i have never eaten eggplant parmesan before so i dont have much to compare it to, but i thought it was great and will be making again and again! thanks for sharing the recipe

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
This were great! The only change I made was to use 1.5 cups white sugar and 1.5 cups brown. And I mixed it all by hand. I had to bake it for about 37 mins for the middle to get done and by then the edges were a little overdone and hard, but besides that, the rest of the pan was simply fantastic --rich, chewy, fudgy, decadent -everything a great brownie should be! Thanks for sharing the recipe, will definitely be making it again and again!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
these were really good! i made the following changes: cut brown sugar down to 1/2 cup, increased cinnamon to 1 tsp, used less raisins and added chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, as well as some sesame seeds, sunflower seeds and flaxseed. next time i would like to sub some of the ap flour for whole wheat and some of the oil for applesauce. i didnt spread the mix all the way till the edge of the pan and baked for about 25-30 mins. they are nice and chewy. to pour the honey easily, make sure u use the same cup u measured the oil in. i think 3/4 cup of sugar is too much, they were plenty sweet with 1/2 -but i also had added chocolate chips, so maybe that helped make it sweeter. overall a great recipe that u can adapt and make changes to according to ur preferences. thanks for sharing!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
Have tried both these and the Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies from this site, which currently has about 1,500 more stars than this and is ranked higher. The other recipe was good, but these cookies were AMAZING! Will definitely be making again and again. The only change I made was to also throw in some white chocolate chips. And I chilled the dough before baking. This recipe is a must try for all chocolate chip cookies lovers!!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
Have made this twice, once exactly as written and the second time adding an extra 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, an extra 1/2 tsp of vanilla and a pinch of ginger. I also add chocolate chips and use all butter. They are really good cookies, but I just find perhaps they are missing a little something, cant figure out what. Maybe I will try adding some nutmeg next. I bake them for 9 mins and cool for 2, They stay nice and soft in an airtight container. They actually taste even better the next day! Thanks for the recipe.

Vanilla Crepes

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
These were really good! I used 4 tbsp butter and a bit more milk, as well as a little bit more sugar. I didnt want to waste the eggs by only using the yolks, so I used 3 whole eggs. I wasnt sure if I was supposed to mix the milk, eggs and vanilla by hand or with a mixer, so I just put it in the blender and then stirred the remaining ingredients in with a whisk. Will be making again, but will continue searching for THE ultimate crepe recipe. Thanks for sharing!

These were great! I was short on time so I put the potatoes in the microwave for a bit first and then they only needed about 20 mins in the oven. Just used whatever potatoes I had lying around

Chocolate Pudding Cake III

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
This was really yummy and chocolatey! I followed the suggestion of using 1/2 cup each of brown & white sugar. Served with whipped cream, would also be great with vanilla ice cream! I dont know how it could make 16 servings, I only got about 6-7 out of it! Either you are only supposed to serve a few spoonfuls or I served enough to give my guests a heartattack!! Next Im going to try Hershey's Hot Fudge Pudding Cake and see how the two recipes compare

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
I found the cake as good, but not as amazing as I was expecting it to be. I followed the following suggestions: using 2/3 cup oil & 1/2 cup applesauce, 1 cup white & 1 cup brown sugar, and 3 tsp each of vanilla and cinnamon. I have also tried it using oil and crushed pineapple. Its good, but still feels like something is missing. Will try adding some nutmeg next time. Thanks for sharing the recipe

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
These cookies were good, but not at the level of OMG AMAZING that I look for in a killer chocolate chip cookie recipe. I found baking for 9 mins and then cooling for 2 on the tray gave me the best results, I liked those much better than the ones i baked for 10 and 11 mins. I did find that the cookies were missing a certain something to raise them from good to delicious. I find the "Best Big" cookie recipe from this site is much better!

Green Pepper Tomato Salad

This was a great salad recipe. I altered it a bit, using tomatoes, celery, green pepper, cucumber, corn, beans and avocado. The dressing was nice -light and refreshing. I have been searching for different homemade salad dressings and this is one I will be making again and again, as its simple and easy. Thanks for sharing

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
this was really good and simple to make. the great thing about it is that all the ingredients are things you would usually always have at home so you can throw it together for a quick dessert. next time i will be sure to serve it with either vanilla ice cream or whip cream on top. its still good without it, but im sure it will taste fantastic with that addition. i will also try adding some nutmeg next time. i didnt use a full 10 cups of apples, as i only had 7 apples at home

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
these were great! for the topping i usually just make the crumb topping for the "banana crumb muffins" from this site. once i tried the crumb topping in this recipe, and although i halved it, i still found it was too much. i prefer the one from the banana muffin recipe, as its with brown sugar. i have also made these with half cup whole wheat. thanks for sharing
