Southern Roundup Part 1

Sorry that I am a little late posting this but life got in the way.  Well once again we had a wonderful time in Panama City Beach for our second annual Southern Roundup.  I, obviously have to travel the furthest to get there but it was a good trip.  I left on Thursday afternoon from Crescent City, CA and arrived in PC at about 8:30 am on Friday morning.  Gary and his beautiful wife Claire got up at 3 a.m. to drive from Georgia to pick me up.  They were waiting for me when I got there.  We couldn't get into the condo until 2 p.m. so we drove around for a while and then went to our favorite restaurant, Hunts Oyster Bar.  Gary and I love oysters so we had a few.

Here we are outside of the restaurant after our feast.

We got into the condo and then everyone else started to turn up.  CindyLepp decided that she was bringing a whole grocery store with us.  Guess she thought that we might have a hiurricane and we needed to stock up

We were too tired to go out that night so we stayed in the condo and had tacos, a few cocktails and a lot of laughs

The next morning I got up early and took a walk along the beach, it was absolutely gorgeous.

Here is a picture of the girls, Robogramma, CindyLepp, Staci and Claire Derr.

For the "actual" roundup we all met at Salty Sue's for lunch.

From left to right you will see GDerr, his wife Claire, CindyLepp, (unseen is JNB, and Amanda's mom Colleen) then Arich, her boyfriend Tim, Phil, (Sherri's hubby) Sherri, Staci and Robogramma.  We had a great time and great food.

These are just a few of the selections that we had for lunch.  If I showed them all we would be here for a month.  This will end part one of our Southern roundup.  Stayed tuned for part 2.

What nice pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us. That plate of shrimp has my name on it! Isn't having a condo instead of a hotel the best? One day I will make this round up, for sure!

Aren't the AR Round Ups with our countrywide friends just the best of times?! Thanks for sharing with us, pelicangal. Like Baking Nana and Maui Girl, the Southern Round Up is on my bucket list! Hey Gary, if it's going to be held in Hotlanta, I have my eldest nephew and family in Conyers, GA!

i kinda doubt hotlanta, though that will certainly be voted on. but probably along the coast again next year. conyers is SO close to the wife and i . if you would like to make the trip next year, fly in and we can fetch you at the airport or where-ever after/before you spend time with relatives. 1 and a half hours away from airport...but truly a REAL southern town.

I'm not nearly as jealous as I was last year because I just got back from my mini roundup with Thelma and Louise aka Magnolia Blossom and Lady Sparkle. We talked about how much we wanted to make the Southern roundup someday. Someday we will! The food looked great but I know it was the people that made the visit! Thanks for sharing!

About Me
I am semi retired. My husband and I both retired at the same time and moved to Brookings to be near the ocean and my sil. I couldn't stand the thought of staying home and cleaning house all day so I got a part time job. I now work 3-4 days a week and it keeps me busy.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook all kinds of things. I try out new recipes all the time and I even cook lots of things that I don't personally like, for instance I do not like sweets but I bake cakes, cookies and breads for my friends and neighbors. I am an Allrecipes Allstar Brand Ambassador(a voluntary position) and I’m not compensated for my work with Products received from advertiser are only used for experienced-based reviews on - Thoughts from my Kitchen. The reviews, content and opinions expressed in this blog are purely the sole opinions of me, pelicangal aka Jan Elton
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always make beef wellington for Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
Winning the Best in show and the Judges choice ribbons along with 11 other blue ribbons at the 2006 Curry County Fair. They were for canning. My pickle relish won Judges choice and my pineapple marmalade won best in show.
My cooking tragedies
Too numerous to list here in only 1000 characters. But one is when my husband and I were first together, I stayed home from work to cook his favorite meal (spaghetti and meatballs). I had just tried to open a can of tomato sauce when the can exploded and I was covered with it. He came home at just that minute and he about burst an artery from laughing.
