Have you all checked out the new videos on AR.  There are tons of them.  I am having family come from California in a couple of weeks and thought that I would like to try something new.  You can actually find whole meals if you want or get ideas for different courses.  I love breakfast and although I don't care for sweet things every one else does so while they are here I think that I am going to make Buttermilk Pancakes II.  Here is the link to the video

Then because we live on the coast and get some awesome fresh fish (I just got some beautiful Ling Cod right off the boat last week)  I thought about making Fish Taco's.  Again another video was available to show me step by step instructions.  Here it is http://allrecipes.com/video/912/fish-tacos/detail.aspx.&nbsp; I also love tartar sauce so I thought that this would go well with the tacos. http://allrecipes.com/video/934/tartar-sauce-i/detail.aspx.&nbsp; I also love to make tartar sauce as a dip for french fries. I have been having a good time exploring the videos too. Interesting how when I watch the video before making the recipe I often pick up a subtle difference. When making something new it really help me to actually see what each step should look like. BTW, I would love to share that Ling Cod with you! My favorite fish.

Fish tacos are one thing I needed help on, and the video gave me some. Maybe I should try those again---since the first time I made them I was told that maybe we could skip those next time. Thanks, pelicangal!

I haven't utilized the videos enough ones I have seen I have REALLY liked and they gave me great tips. Now, does anyone know if there is a "how to make the perfect pie" video. My pies are functionally edible but not pretty. I want to make pretty and edible for a party we were invited to :)

I am semi retired. My husband and I both retired at the same time and moved to Brookings to be near the ocean and my sil. I couldn't stand the thought of staying home and cleaning house all day so I got a part time job. I now work 3-4 days a week and it keeps me busy.

I try out new recipes all the time and I even cook lots of things that I don't personally like, for instance I do not like sweets but I bake cakes, cookies and breads for my friends and neighbors. My favorite family cooking traditions
I always make beef wellington for Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
Winning the Best in show and the Judges choice ribbons along with 11 other blue ribbons at the 2006 Curry County Fair. They were for canning. My pickle relish won Judges choice and my pineapple marmalade won best in show.
My cooking tragedies
Too numerous to list here in only 1000 characters. But one is when my husband and I were first together, I stayed home from work to cook his favorite meal (spaghetti and meatballs). I had just tried to open a can of tomato sauce when the can exploded and I was covered with it. He came home at just that minute and he about burst an artery from laughing.
