Done with camping for the year. . .ready for fall baking.

The weather is slowly changing to the crispness of fall. I can hardly wait to start baking. So many fruits and vegetables are available for new and delicious trial recipes.

I live in apple country-upstate New York. Apple picking at local orchards is quite the treat. Many orchards make the whole weekend an adventure. Corn mazes, apple picking, face painting, pumpkin carving contests, and even a "cannon" that shoots squash up to a mile away.

This is the first year our outdoor farmer's market is going indoors at a local church during the winter. I am very excited about what will be available later in the season.

One local apple grower has bags of apple "seconds" for a very cheap price. My family goes through apples like they were candy.

If anyone has recipe ideas for me (apples, pumpkins, zucchini) send them along. I will post any recipes that strike my fancy.

Finally, how do you like the new AR feature of saving sites to your recipe box? Very cool, I have started all ready.

About Me
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, especially during the fall and winter when it is cool outside. I am always looking for scone recipes. I live in apple country so I also like apple recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My son, who loves to cook, and I like to cook Thanksgiving Dinner together. My son is always trying to invent something wild and crazy. His recipes are usually pretty tasty.
My cooking triumphs
Two of my recipes seem to be in demand where ever I take them. Corn Casserole and Sour Cream Apple Pie.
My cooking tragedies
Well, this may or may not be such a tragedy. I use to use Pillsbury pie crust dough for all my pies. . I know very lazy of me. However, in the last six months I have been very disappointed in the Pillsbury pie dough. I haven't been able to unroll it and end up re-rolling it. Doesn't save me any time, so I am back to making my own pie dough, using canola oil instead of Crisco. I am glad I switched.
