My son and I are gearing up for trying many new recipes. His contribution to last Saturday's meal was:
Blueberry Muffins

The recipes made lots of muffins, and we were able to have some the next day as a breakfast treat.

Of course I had to then try to outdo him. On Sunday I tried

Glazed Lemon Bread (as muffins)-Yes we are a muffin loving family.
Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

A cook can tell if the meal is a hit if nothing is left and . . .you guessed it, nothing was left.

We are looking for more recipes to try. Are we in a competition? Not really, but it is fun cooking and baking with my son. He is going to finish his college with a major in restaurant management that emphasizes culinary cooking as the core. Maybe he will get an internship down at Disney World. How cool would that be.

About Me
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, especially during the fall and winter when it is cool outside. I am always looking for scone recipes. I live in apple country so I also like apple recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My son, who loves to cook, and I like to cook Thanksgiving Dinner together. My son is always trying to invent something wild and crazy. His recipes are usually pretty tasty.
My cooking triumphs
Two of my recipes seem to be in demand where ever I take them. Corn Casserole and Sour Cream Apple Pie.
My cooking tragedies
Well, this may or may not be such a tragedy. I use to use Pillsbury pie crust dough for all my pies. . I know very lazy of me. However, in the last six months I have been very disappointed in the Pillsbury pie dough. I haven't been able to unroll it and end up re-rolling it. Doesn't save me any time, so I am back to making my own pie dough, using canola oil instead of Crisco. I am glad I switched.
