Memorial Weekend-the start of summer!

This will be the start of my family's camping season. We are headed down to the Philadelphia/West Chester KOA campground for five fun filled days! The campground is located in an awsome area, near both Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Dutch Country. There is so much to see, but we will try real hard to see "everything". At the top of the list is Longwood Gardens. We had a chance to see Longwood Gardens in 2005 during their Chrysanthemum Festival which was gorgeous. The fountains were all drained and not doing what fountains do--shoot water high into the air.

We are also planning on visiting Valley Forge. I am excited about visiting an area that was so prominent in our early history.

I have great plans to try some new recipes from AR. Granted I have limited space in our pop-up trailer but I am packing a lot of zip lock bags full of special ingredients. I will be trying a new recipe for hambugers, potato salad, pasta salad, and some simple desserts. I will be taking pictures and I may even blog from the road. Look out world here we come!

About Me
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, especially during the fall and winter when it is cool outside. I am always looking for scone recipes. I live in apple country so I also like apple recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My son, who loves to cook, and I like to cook Thanksgiving Dinner together. My son is always trying to invent something wild and crazy. His recipes are usually pretty tasty.
My cooking triumphs
Two of my recipes seem to be in demand where ever I take them. Corn Casserole and Sour Cream Apple Pie.
My cooking tragedies
Well, this may or may not be such a tragedy. I use to use Pillsbury pie crust dough for all my pies. . I know very lazy of me. However, in the last six months I have been very disappointed in the Pillsbury pie dough. I haven't been able to unroll it and end up re-rolling it. Doesn't save me any time, so I am back to making my own pie dough, using canola oil instead of Crisco. I am glad I switched.
