Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2009
Very good! I've never had or made French Onion soup, so I was a little blind as to how it all should taste. I "doctored" it up a little after reading the reviews. I added a little garlic toward the end of the sauteing time of the onions. Then I sprinkled a little flour on the onion mixture. After adding the onions to the broth, I added a touch of Worchester Sauce and Kitchen Bouquet and simmered for 30 minutes. I thought it was very good, my husband thought it was great!

Raspberry Fudge Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
Very good and very rich! I used regular choc. chips, that's what I had on hand. However, I think the miniature ones, as stated, would be better. I cut some into squares, some into triangle...My husband and his friend asked why the triangles and I said that they might be too rich for some. They both shook their heads NO! I sent some home with this friend for his family, he said - They won't make it! :) (meaning he would eat them all before he got home) Thanks for the recipe Larkspur!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
Mmmm Mmmm Good! I did leave the topping off - cinnamon and bananas just don't appeal to me. However, I did put the topping on some strawbery muffins, minus the cinnamon and loved it! So next time I make these, I will put the brown sugar topping on! I also added walnuts. Sooo good!

Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
These were ok...I give it 4 stars for the flavor and ease of doing it ahead of time. However, I thought the texture was lacking. Maybe I just don't like Yukon Gold Potatoes; they seem "gummy" to me. Or maybe I mixed everything too much? I may try it again using regular old russets.

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
Finally! I found the egg dish I've been looking for! I'm not sure what it is -maybe the cottage cheese - but this will be my go-to breakfast dish! I pre-cooked the hash browns for about 8 minutes, then baked at 375' for 35 minutes. It was almost done, so I turned it down to 250' because we weren't ready to eat so soon. I covered it with foil and it sat in the oven for almost an hour! And it turned out perfect! Thank You for a new favorite!

Strawberry Torte

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
I made this for our family Christmas, and it was a hit! Very easy to make and it does look impressive. Not to mention, it tasted wonderful; light and refreshing. Just a note about the lady fingers - the recipe calls for so many ounces of lady fingers, if I recall. The lady fingers I bought were much lighter in weight! I used 3 packages... if I had followed the recipe, I would have had to buy 7 packages!!! So that was a little confusing.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
Love this recipe! I used bottled lemon juice and went light on the sugar. My husband, the big lemonade drinker, loved it! I prefer my a little sweeter, so I just add a little extra sugar to my glass. I did not boil the water / sugar, just used hot water to dissolve the sugar. A keeper recipe!

Layered Mint Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Wow, was this easy! Instead of mint, I did a raspberry layer! Yummy! Although this doesn't make a thick fudge, I think it is perfect cut into small pieces and put into candy cups. As others have mentioned, you could double the chocolate layers to make it thicker, however, I prefer bite size pieces.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
I'm not sure what happened to my batch! It tasted ok coming out of the oven, a little soft. Once it cooled completely, I put it in ziploc baggies and it turned into mush! Well, sort of. When eating it, it tasted wet, not crunchy at all! I did cook it at 200' as some suggested and if anything, I had too much popcorn, so it wasn't over saturated. Maybe I didn't let it boil long enough? Sorry! I guess I'll stick to my TNT caramel corn!

Baked Potato Soup V

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
Mmmmm, very good! I did put it in the crockpot prior to adding the sour cream. It was in for about 5 hours and it did stick some to the sides...We weren't home, but next time I will watch it closely if using the crockpot. Definitely will be making again!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
The whole family loved these! Next time I will double the sauce. I used more chicken than the recipe suggested, so coated the extras in BBQ sauce. We all liked the Buffalo ones the best! Both were nice and crispy!

Italian Sausage Soup

Very flavorful, colorful, and easy! I made mine in the crockpot, adding the zucchini and beans the last two hours. A half hour before serving, I added the spinach. (frozen - thawed) Everyone loved it...my husband said, "Curiously, very good!" :)

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
Loved this recipe! Brought it to a girl's get-together and everyone loved it! My husband had some later and everyone thought it tasted like Banana Creme Pie! Next time may add extra vanilla wafers to the bottom to make a thicker "crust".

Impossible French Apple Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
This was not a favorite...I was hesitant due to other reviews on this being more custard-like. And I wondered about the bottom "crust", which I found not to be a crust at all. It just wasn't to my liking...sorry!

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
I didn't realize until I was making this, that I have a very similar recipe! The only difference is the amounts of pudding, sour cream, and flavor of cake mix. I played a little between the two recipes and feel there's really no way to mess this cake up...it's definetely a keeper!
