Curried Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
My husband and I love this recipe. It is the best bean salad I have ever had. It has become a summer box lunch staple for us.

Slow Cooker Lentil and Ham Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
The soup was very good. I made it exactly as described; however, it seemed to be lacking something - something to make the flavors pop a bit.

Apple Crunch Pie with Vanilla Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
Like one of the earlier reviewers, I didn't made the pie but I made the vanilla sauce - and it was fantastic. It actually turns out with a custard taste. My husband and I loved it!

Sweet Russian Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
Great simple, filling soup - perfect for cold autumn evenings. The only change from the recipe I made was to use garlic powder instead of garlic cloves because I was out of fresh garlic.

Thai Chicken Curry in Coconut Milk

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
The curry was far too weak and was very thin. I added much, much more curry paste than called for in order to try to make the flavor stronger, but it still didn't work. Perhaps it was the curry paste I used - the recipe might want to suggest certain brands or give guidelines for paste selection.

German Spaetzle Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
Tasted great - the nutmeg gave it extra oomph. I changed the recipe a bit by shaking some parmesan cheese over the spaetzle while sauteing. I served it with the Sauerbraten Klopse and German Red Cabbage recipes from this site for a great German meal.

German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
Great tasting cabbage - just like Grandma used to make! I didn't have whole peppercorns so I used just a bit of black ground pepper in the flavoring bag. I served it with the Sauerbraten Klopse and German Spaetzle Dumplings recipes also from this site.

Sauerbraten Klopse (Sauerbraten Meatballs)

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
The recipe was very good - it definitely had the sauerbraten taste I remember from my grandma's kitchen. I made the recipe exactly as written - except I might have left them simmering a bit longer as I finished the German Spaetzle Dumplings recipe also from this site to go with the meatballs.

Tom Ka Gai (Coconut Chicken Soup)

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2008
This tastes exactly like the soup we loved at our favorite Thai restaurant. This soup is going into my regular meal rotation. We sent a bowl to our neighbor, and he called back 15 mintues later proclaiming it was the best chicken soup he had ever tasted. If you like Thai food, you should try this soup!

The Best Thai Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2008
Great recipe! It makes alot of sauce - so I would recommend freezing part of it. I put the sauce over sauted chicken tenders, onions and green peppers and served it over jasmine rice. I can't wait to try it over rice noodles!

Butterscotch Oatmeal

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2008
The best oatmeal I have ever made. Who knew an egg would make such a difference! I made mine with vanilla soymilk instead of regular milk and cut the brown sugar by half since I didn't want anything too sweet. It was fantastic, and I didn't feel shorted on the sweetner at all.
