I'am a devoted christian. Studying Gods work and evangelism comes first in our house. I have 2 boys and 2 girls ranging from 5-13 yr's of age. I have a wonderful husband who works very hard so I can stay home with our kids. I'am also a RDA. This is my first year to stay home with my children 2012.
My favorite things to cook
Southern dishes, comfort food's, desserts, chicken anything and dips! Easy recipes, quick recipes and cheap recipes. I have a talent for taking a recipe making it easier and cheaper without altering the tast. Its amazing what you can do when you have to!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Going to nanas to cook fried chicken,biscuits and gravy, okra and greens. YUM YUM Sundays is usually pinto beans or a stew in the crock pot. Of course Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner with ham and turkey and dressing, hashbrown casserole, grannies candied yams, chicken and dumpling's,homemade rolls, and every dessert you could think of. The best is granny's coke cake! (texas sheet cake)
My cooking triumphs
LOL my husband and kids going to bed with full belly's! I will say the day I can master a perfect meringue will be triumphant! I can serve a rack of lamb with mint jelly but i CAN'T MAKE MERINGUE!!!
My cooking tragedies
O gosh, where to start! I was a young mother so i learned pretty young and had plenty of "smoke alarm tests", meat still frozen in the middle and bread the kids used as golf balls! I will say thats how i learned best and feel thats what makes a great cook. Learning from your mistakes.

Southern Cornbread Dressing
Turned out good but not granny worthy good. I can't imagine not using the eggs as one review suggested. I also added a bit more sage/poultry seasoning. Other then that, not bad.

Whipped Cream Mousse Frosting
I used this recipe for chocolate frosting and used chocolate pudding. It was the perfect texture although I used only 2 cups of cool whip. It needed a bit more of a chocolate flavor. I may try adding some cocoa powder next time.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies
Would have gave 5 but I did the half and half with the brown and white sugar. They tasted great but I think they would have been perfect with all white sugar. The brown gave it a maple flavor almost. Also, they are better the longer they sit. I also didnt have chocolate chips but I had some duncan hines pour over chocolate frosting that I added. Not bad! Loved the texture.
