Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
Wow! Mine turned out delicious, but no beautiful crackle. Is it because I used butter? Anyway, some tips for working with this sticky dough: Freeze for 20 minutes, then, using one spoon, scoop some dough, then using another spoon, scoop out the dough and plop it down on a wax paper lined cookie sheet. Take one of the spoons and dip the back in some sugar and use this to flatten AND sugar the cookie at the same time. Quick, easy, and easy clean up with the wax paper on the cookie sheet!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
This recipe is simple and good. All I did differently was substitute the white sugar with granulated Splenda and omitted the salt since Splenda tends to bring out the salt in baked goods.I will definitely use it again.

Gramma's Apple Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
I was looking for a bread pudding recipe that was easy to modify for a healthier version and this looked perfect because it was already lower in fat than other recipes without the sauce, which apparently most reviewers didn't even make because this recipe is already delicious without it. That long sentence was all to say that I made this, substituted half the brown sugar with splenda, use applesauce instead of margarine, used fat free milk added a splash of orange juice, and didn't make the sauce. I served it at a party and no even knew it was a low-fat dessert. Top with a dollop of fat free coolwhip for a special treat!

Butterscotch Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
you can judge me if you want to for the 3 star rating, but i made the mistake of following other's suggestions rather than do the original. i used heath bits instead of butterscotch and reduced the brown sugar to 1.5 cups and it wasn't sweet enough for me. i had to make a vanilla sauce to go on top of it to save it. the thing that i didn't like about the heath was that they melted right in to the point where i couldn't taste them. if i get the urge to make this again, i will follow the directions, as written! -------------------------- REVIEW UPDATE! I had tons of sweet hawaiian rolls getting stale so I decided to make this again, but followed the recipe this time, mostly. :) (I subbed applesauce for half the butter) It was heavenly with RAVE reviews! But now I see why people reduced the sugar because butterscotch is a lot richer than heath bits. So for future, I will most likely reduce the brown sugar to 1.5 cups, do butterscotch chips, and continue to sub the butter with half applesauce. Oh and I DO NOT recommend using the hawaiian rolls because they get mushier than other breads.

Easy Swedish Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
I come from a Swedish town, famous for our Swedish festival and pancakes. This recipe isn't the best I've had, but it is simple and does the job of satisfying my Swedish pancake cravings. (I's much tastier made with half and half if you have some on hand.) Oh and as a side note, these pancakes are supposed to runny!!! Do not fret, they gel together nicely while cooking.

Jif® Peanut Butter Blossoms

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
My dough was too sticky so I added more flour, but maybe this was due to the fact that I didn't have brown sugar. I doubled the flour and added 2 tablespoons of maple syrup. Either way, they turned out deliciously!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Just for fun I added chocolate chips and instead of using this icing I used a brown sugar icing from the brown sugar cookie recipe on this site. They were amazing as I am sure the original is as well, I am just more of a brown sugar fan!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
Eh. They were pretty good, but not award winning to me. They are cakey so they stayed soft the next day, and I got a lot of compliments on them, but to me they tasted artificial. Maybe it was because I used sugar free fat free pudding? I did use 1 tbsp of vanilla and 1 tsp of salt, which I believed took care of the blandness other reviewers talked about. My final comment, you're better off making the Tollhouse recipe with an added extra 1/2 c of flour for delicious soft cookies than these. And for a special treat, make the Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie from this site. They're amazingly rich and better than these.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2010
I followed recipe except I didn't have any walnuts and I baked it in a muffin pan. I will not do that again because it was too moist and airy that it lacked the heartiness of a bread. Next time I will add a couple more bananas, add the walnuts, and bake in loaves hoping this will produce a heartier, denser banana bread. Other than that, it was delicious, moist, and easy.

Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2010
Seriously the best chicken I've ever made. I used low sodium soy sauce, splenda, doubled the ginger and garlic, added 1 tbls of lemon juice, and chopped green onion. Marinated my boneless skinless chicken breasts overnight, and when it was time to bake, I put foil down on my pyrex and dumped the whole thing in. Baked for 45 minutes. I know people hate a ton of changes, but I never would've gotten the idea to do all this if it wasn't for this recipe. So, thank you, William for this delicious, easy, healthy recipe!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: May 16, 2010
I've made these several times now and they are delicious, but a bit salty. Do be sure to use UNSALTED butter as the directions say. I now substitute the white sugar with splenda and the flour with whole wheat flour. Because of the splenda I add 1/4 teaspoon more of baking soda. There is a texture difference with these changes, but it does reduce calories and add more nutritional value and still makes one tasty cookie! Oh and I threw in some butterscotch chips this last time. Yummy!

Disappearing Marshmallow Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2010
Make sure you pack the brown sugar because I don't think I packed mine and it was not sweet enough for me. To remedy this I drizzled caramel syrup on top. Yum! I added 2.5 c of mini marshmallows like a reviewer suggested and I'm glad I did because they melt right in to where you can barely taste them. If I made these again, I will either add a cup of peanut butter chips or white choc chips to liven it up.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2010
THIS IS CAKE! Good flavor, but it was NOT fudgey or chewy! I wish I read previous reviews on this recipe because one review said the same things. I did double the recipe and other reviews say when you double this recipe take out an egg. I wish I listened to them because I'm supposed to bring brownies to a party tomorrow and all I have to show for it is an okay tasting chocolate cake. The frosting however, is DELICIOUS!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2010
Pretty good recipe. Crunchy on the outside, fudgey on the inside, but they took forever to bake, which was annoying so for that reason, I'll probably stick the "best brownies" recipe by angie on this site. Oh and I frosted them with a peanut butter frosting recipe from this site and it made them taste that much better!

Whoopie Pies VIII

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2010
The recipe was easy to follow and they looked beautiful, but the cookie part was kind of bland. After tasting the first batch and wishing they were sweeter, I added 1/2 c of sugar to the 2nd batch and they came out flatter so I wouldn't recommend that. The frosting, however is deliciously sweet so I would definitely use that recipe again. (Oh, but I did leave out the egg whites and it turned out well!) All in all, decent recipe and they were fun to make. Beware though, as noted before, it does make a big batch!
