Wild Rice with Rosemary and Cashew Stuffing

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
Really, really good and healthy, too. We loved this especially because we love cashews. I didn't use rosemary (didn't have any) so I subbed thyme. The kids were initially skeptical of the wild rice, but ended up eating all of it. Will use as a regular side dish at our house.

Green Onion Dip I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
I made this according to the recipe and it was really good. I will probably make it again with a couple of tweaks next time. One, I used a large clove of garlic and my husband and I agreed that it was too much garlic, so next time I'll use less. Also, I agree with other reviewers re doubling the green onions; I'll do that next time. Last comment, I really liked the consistency of the dip with the mayo/sour cream mixture as opposed to adding cream cheese. It was just right for not breaking chips!

Spicy Black Bean Potato Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
Really, good potato salad. I love that it is a little different from traditional potato salad, especially the spicy kick. We will make this again.

Baked Bar-be-Que Chicken

I was disappointed, but this chicken was not very good. I used chicken breasts and it just turned out really bland.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
WOW! My husband and I both LOVED this recipe! After reading all of the reviews, particularly the review by the original recipe submitter, I decided to make the spread according to the recipe the first time. It was absolutely delicious. Many of the changes made by other reviewers, such as adding other cheeses or additional seasoning, are sure to be delicious but just make this into a jalapeno cheese dip. If you want the authentic popper taste, follow this recipe. We did add 4 oz of jalapenos as the recipe submitter said in her review that she does. I am sensitive to spicy food and this was a little too hot for me, so next time I will make it with only 3 oz of jalapenos. Also, as the spread cooled, the layer of parmesan on top did kind of toughen up, so next time I will stir 1/2 or more of the parmesan into the spread and then sprinkle the rest on top. We ate the spread on sliced, toasted baguette and also tried it with Ritz crackers. I highly recommend the sliced baguette. This spread is sure to be a hit at social gatherings! I will make it again and again.

Savory Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
I don't like dill so didn't have any, but these deviled eggs were delicious even without it. I always use this recipe now (minus the dill weed).

Black Bean and Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
This is probably the best AllRecipe I have discovered so far. My husband and I are addicted to this salad! We have already made it several times and just love, love, love it. The dressing is so, so good--we do double it as several other reviewers recommended. Other than that, don't change a thing.

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
I made this according to the recipe except I used only 1/2 of a small white onion (what I had on hand). The salad was okay, but I will only make it again with changes. As many other reviewers mentioned, there is a lot of dressing. Even if you are making it for the first time I would definitely half the amount of dressing. Further, I will probably try substituting the dressing altogether--it was too vinegary for me. I really love the dressing on the "Black Bean and Couscous Salad" from this site, so I may try using that dressing instead. Also, I will continue to use only 1/2 an onion (more kid-friendly that way), and I would increase the cilantro b/c we love cilantro. Last, as other reviewers stated, it is tastier the second and third day after the flavors have had time to meld.

Zucchini and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
This was ok. We may try it again, but it was a little too bland for our tastes, so I would jazz it up a little.

Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
I had never made crepes before but wanted to try it for a special birthday breakfast for my husband. These turned out great. I made a sweet filling using 8 oz cream cheese, 1/2 c powdered sugar, and 1/2 tsp lemon juice. I topped the crepes with a homemade strawberry topping. My husband said it tasted like "heaven in his mouth."

Lemon Sauce for Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
Very, very good on salmon patties. I didn't change a thing and my entire family loved it--husband, kids, and even my parents who came for a visit. I agree with another reviewer who said not to skip the cayenne. It is so good with that subtle kick.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
This recipe worked well for cutouts but I did have to generously flour everything to keep it from being too sticky. As many reviewers mentioned, they are not very sweet--which is ideal when you plan to put icing on them. (My 5-star rating is based on these cookies WITH icing.) They held their cutout shape perfectly when baked and came out looking great.

Texas Caviar with Avocado

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
I made this last night for my husband and myself, and we could not get enough. It is DELICIOUS! I have made similar salads but this one was unique with the black-eyed peas and the avocado. The only variations I made were to use one can black-eyed peas and one of black beans (as the recipe submitter mentioned in their review), and we added some fresh cilantro (about 1/2 c) as another reviewer suggested b/c we are big cilantro fans.

Arkansas Green Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
We didn't like these green beans much and I was disappointed. I think it was too much soy sauce for our tastes, so I may try to tweak it and make again. If you don't love soy sauce, this may not be for you.
