Basil Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
Great easy recipe. Followed it as written except substituted sour cream for heavy cream because that's what was on hand. Also added fresh chopped red pepper and green onions at end(not cooked). Will make again!

Cauliflower Casserole

I actually loved it better cold the next day! I did double the sour cream and cheddar as recomended by others, omitted the bell peppers, and added 1/4 cup chopped green onion, cayenne pepper and 1/4 cup lime juice.Substituted crushed wheat thin crackers for corn flakes. Will be making often!

Chef John's Gazpacho

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2012
Completely addictive. I'm not much of a raw tomato fan, but this is awesome!. I think I will even try completely blended for a Bloody Mary base. Didn't peel the tomatoes because I like the extra fibre and I just used a regular cucumber(peeled) and tomatoes. Didn't strain anything either.Super good!

Turned out perfect. I liked the level of sweetness, but you may want to add the a second tablespoon of sugar.

Fresh Raspberry Pie

Love this recipe! Have used it to top shortbread and cheesecake! So easy, I think I will adapt it to other fruit when my raspberries are out of season. My boyfriend puts it on ice cream too.

Angel Food Cake II

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2012
My first time making an Angel Food cake and this turned out perfect! Watched the Allrecipe's video before I started, which gave me some great tips and away I went. Perfect results. Made a butter cream vanilla glaze. Will be making this often when I figure some great recipes to use up all the egg yolks that are left over.

Coconut Macaroons III

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
Excellent!!! Came out just like at the bakery!! Chilled dough half an hour and rolled in my hands to shape. I did bake for 20 minutes to get good color. I baked them on parchment. My boyfriend is very pleased!

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
Excellent! Used slightly less water than called for otherwise would have been too sticky.Use lots of flour when rolling out to make nice and thin. I used Crisco but I believe any butter type ingredient would work great. I think melodyanne over-cooked hers because mine came out nice and soft.Just leave until bubbles appear, flip and you're done.So easy! Never buying the store tortillas again. YUM!!!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IX

If I could give this recipe 10 stars I would!!! Super good. I added an extra 1/2 cup of brown sugar and exchanged nuts for chocolate chips then baked for 15 minutes. I ended up with about 60 of the best oatmeal cookies I've ever had! Yum!

Cucumbers in Sour Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
I'm making it for the second time!!! So good and easy. I salted the cucumbers lightly and let them drain in a colander for a half an hour first. I also found that this makes quite a bit of dressing so I added two more cucumbers and a quarter finely chopped onion.

Sourdough Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
I'm working my way through all the bread machine recipes on this site and this is beyond the worst. It only cooked on the bottom, the middle was gummy and the top was dough. I'm trying to finish it up in the oven and save this mess. Tweaking may help it, but I will never try this recipe again to find out...not when there are several recipes turned out very nicely!

Turned out really good. Next time I will use half lamb, half beef...but other than that this is a keeper!Tasted much like what I used to have for for lunch at the Greek diner in Portland, Nikki's. Very authentic.

Plain and Simple Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
I'm working my way through all the bread machine recipes on this site, in search of the best. This was the first time I ever made sourdough bread so I had to start by making the starter. I used "Sourdough Starter II " and I let is age for 48 hours. The bread turned out to be a large loaf, with nice texture and really moist. My boyfriend and I liked it so well, that I am making the same combination today...one week later. Hopefully this will be more sour than the last(I read that the flavor gets stronger as the starter ages) The only down side, was that it did go moldy in a few days, so we had to toss some. Possibly from the moistness/high yeast content? Now I know we need to eat it a little faster...no problem!

Sourdough Starter II

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
I had never made sourdough bread before and this worked great. I'm even making my second loaf today and hoping for a more sour flavor(I read the older the sourdough starter, the stronger the flavor).I'm working through all the bread machine recipes on this site and for my first sourdough bread, I used "Plain and Simple Sourdough Bread." My boyfriend and I liked the combination so well, that I'm using it again for today's loaf! Yum!

Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
I'm working my way through all of the bread machine recipes on this site in search of the best. I made this just as directed, except I used brewed coffee in place of the instant coffee and water. Turned out perfect with a moist dense texture and slightly sweet flavor. Great for ham sandwiches!

Light Oat Bread

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
I'm on the quest for the perfect bread machine recipe, so I'm working my way through them all on this site. This bread turned out moist and a little dense, but didn't have the yeasty homemade taste I'm looking for. It did stale quickly as another reviewer said and became crumbly. Still it was quite good and made wonderful toast and ham sandwiches.

Rhubarb Dream Bars

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
I followed the directions pretty closely, but I did add an extra cup of rhubard and 1/2 cup less sugar plus I added 20 minutes to the cooking time otherwise it would have been very runny.I didn't have butter so I subbed 1/2 cup soft margarine, 1/2 cup shortening. It turned out super good, especially with vanilla ice cream. Will make this again as long as my rhubarb is producing!

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
Turned out excellent! I added left-over chicken and a little Cayenne pepper. I did substitute 1 1/2 cheddar and 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, only because that's what I had...other than that, I followed the directions and served it up with some couscous. Yum...will be making this again and coming up with other variations. Easy and tasty!
