I'm currently a Domestic Engineer with previous experience as an Administrative Professional. I'm married, and I have two cats that keep me company while I cook: Saki and Fiz (Fiz is in my profile photo).
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cookies. I love making up crudites trays (a little weird, I know). And I love trying out new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have veered off quite a bit from my mother's cooking, but I have kept up and expanded cooking the Mexican food my mother prepared. I am not Hispanic, but being born and raised in southern Arizona will also have its effect on a person.
My cooking triumphs
I'm really proud of the cheesecakes I've made from recipes on this site. And I bake awesome cookies.
My cooking tragedies
Both of my tragedies involve a food processor (FP). 1) Chicken Salad became Chicken Mousse. Lesson learned was that while you can use the FP to shred the chicken, you shouldn't use it to mix in the condiments. Do that by hand mixing. 2) Gnocchi - used the FP to "mash/rice" the potatoes. Ended up with potato glue.

Chocolate Zucchini Bread II
I substituted applesauce for some of the oil. I did not have any chocolate chips, but I did have some Mexican hot chocolate disks. So I ground those up and added it in addition to the cocoa power. The bread ended up being pretty good.

Banana Oatmeal Cookie
These turned out fine, but they are similar enough in taste and texture to banana bread

Iced Pumpkin Cookies
I did not have good luck with this recipe. I started off following it exactly (except adding extra spice), but I ended up with batter, not dough. I looked up a couple other pumpkin cookie recipes and ended up adding another cup of flour and another egg. The final result ended up tasting fine, and the texture is similar to pumpkin bread.
