PHILADELPHIA New York Cheesecake III

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
Why do people rate awesome recipes like this one low stars when they didn't follow the recipe as written? When it says to use cream cheese you assume not the fat free kind right? Someone gave this recipe 3 stars because they used fat free cream cheese- Fat free anything doesn't have that rich taste you need for a great outcome. This recipe deserves all 5 stars!! I never made cheese cake this tasted just like the real deal! THE BEST!!

Liquid Hot Apple Pie

Reviewed: May 15, 2009
This tastes so good. I'm sipping it right now... I didn't add the whiskey only the spiced rum. I used Capt. Morgan and I also added 4 packets of Alpine instant spiced apple cidar to the brew. I followed everything else in this recipe as written. I served it cold over ice. This is very yummy you can't even taste the alcohol be careful not to get too drunk it will catch up to you lol.

Cold Veggie Squares

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
All I can say is WOW WOW WOW! we had guest over last night and none of us was really hungry we just wanted something lol~ This recipe was a perfect appetizer! I was worried about the Mayo I don't know why! the Mayo is what makes this great. You can do so much to this to make it your own. I added parmesan cheese and ranch dressing to the mixture. I chopped the veggies up very fine and mixed them all together. Reading this recipe I thought this seems so plain it must taste so simple. NOPE!! it's spectacularly addicting!! We all ate the whole tray and wanted more. It was so good in fact i'm making more after I write this. You are gonna love these!!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
I used fat free cream cheese because it was the only cream cheese I had- I used country crock churn style for the butter. When I made this I only made half of this recipe. I only had less than a tablespoon of vanilla it still tasted so yummy. I used reg white flour it still came out perfect! OMG I love this recipe- it tasted like cheese cake and pound cake at the same time. I've never had something like this before I loved it! I suggest that you use an electric mixer because the batter is very thick and dense. (hard to hand stir) It tastes so good!!! Love this da best ever!!!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2008
Updated Rating April 12th, 2009 I made this about 10 times since my first rating. I have to change my rating to 5 stars!! the first time was my first time making fish and I didn't do a good job. When I made this I put the topping on the raw fish and popped it in the oven. I didn't broil it or nothing. It came out just "ok" but the second time I made it I read the recipe more throughly. Okay, so I made this tonight and I made a mistake- I used miracle whip this time thinking I could change it up a bit. NO! don't use miracle whip! It completely takes away from the taste of the fish and parmesan cheese. You already add in lemon juice for "tang" so the miracle whip doubles the "tang" way to much. It was hard to enjoy this fish tonight. Just thought i'd give all you cookers out there a heads up...:)

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2010
This was the best apple pie on planet earth! I have never made apple pie before and I couldn't believe how good it came out... I was shocked that I actually made it! I don't know what it is about this apple pie that makes it so good, the brown sugar?, the butter? what is going on?? It's so good. I made two pies and they were both eaten in two days. I can't wait to make this again. I made no changes other than add 1tsp of vanilla- I followed the directions to a tee and it came out perfect! WOW~

Classic Fish and Chips

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
I believe i'm a pretty good cook, but I don't know what I did wrong. Even tho I did everything I could do to prevent the fish from being too greasy it still was very greasy. I didn't over cook- the fish was light fluffy flaky as it should but I didn't like the batter.

Chicken and Dumplings III

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
5 Stars! My husband stayed home from work sick today and I wanted to make him a comfort food his mom use to make. I used boneless skinless chicken breast- I sauteed them in olive oil along with carrots, chopped green peppers, and onions. I didn't use the celery. I Seasoned it with all-purpose seasoning, onion salt, and pepper. Once that was done, I drained on a paper towel and I added it to the soup mixture. I used TWO 10 oz cans of chicken broth and 1, 10 oz can of cream of chicken soup. As for my dough I used this recipe's directions- BUT I added 1/3 cup of Hungry Jack "extra light and fluffy" pancake mix. This made the dumplings extra fluffy melt in your mouth! Also if you make this you should set the dough in the frige for 30 mins to allow it to firm more. I cut the chicken breast into small cubes, and I cut the dough into small cubes. I think this was best because now you have a spoonful of each. (yum) If you want to be creative you can add a can of green beans or peas. I added a can of green beans can you say "WOW"? lol. I simmered on low for about 15 minutes longer than the time suggested in the recipe. This allowed the dumplings to soak up more of the chicken broth and for the soup to thicken more. This was truly the best ever I will be making this again. I feel so proud this was my first time making chicken and dumplings...thanks for this recipe!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
Yummy Yummy. I am a very great cook. I cook almost every single day, and I have tried zillions of Alfredo sauce recipes and this one is da best! Tonight I cooked my famous Alfredo Steak and Chicken Casserole using this sauce, and it was to die for. The only thing different I did was add 1 tsp of sour cream, extra garlic, italian seasonings, and I used "fresh" parmesan instead of the powder crushed kind. This sauce on top of my Olive Oil grilled chicken breast and thin slices of steak, broccoli, and pasta made for an excellent dinner. I will be making this sauce again without a doubt!

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: May 8, 2009
This was very good. I never made salmon in my life and it turned out great. I didn't know the salmon fillets you purchased still had the skin on it. It took me awhile to remove the skin because I didn't have a very sharp knife. I ended up pulling the skin and scales off with ease. One thing I would say about this recipe is that the cooking time seems very long. I cooked it for 30 mins and it was just a tad dry- I think 25 mins would have been better. I guess it depends on your oven so keep checking so it doesn't dry out. I served with brown rice and mixed veggies this was very very good and not fishy at all to my surprise! After eating this salmon I thought wow.. why do people eat chicken when fish tastes this good!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
I didn't have celery or onion and it still came out great! Instead of chicken broth I used Campbells cream of chicken soup and it was so creamy delish! I used frozen carrots instead of fresh, canned peas, and I added chopped broccoli as well. I used frozen pie crust but then for the top crust I used homemade pie crust using an allrecipe recipe. This was soo yummy, filling, and comfort food. Hubby and I fell asleep after eating lol.

Maria's Pepper Steak

yes, yes, this was the BEST ever in the world!! My husband and I fought over who gets the leftovers. We ended up spliting it and it wasn't enough! I will be making this over and over again! I followed the recipe to a tee and I didn't add or change anything... I put it over brown rice.

I made this last night. It was really good. The only thing I did diffently was I added 5 oz of cream of chicken soup to my potatos and I used chicken wingettes instead. It still came out crispy with exploding favor! I served along side a veggie packed Salad Yum Yum

BBQ Chicken Calzones

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
This is a very yummy Calzone. I took 4 individual packaged chicken breast and diced them up into pieces. Fried them in extra virgin olive oil added crispy bacon and then my sauce and simmered until the meat was tender. I used Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ Sauce, but I added 2 table spoons of Apple cider vinegar for some extra zest and tang. I added whole kernal corn to my meat and sauce mixture at the end and let it cool down first. For my dough I made my own from scratch. There are a million pizza dough from scratch recipes but I used this one...http://www.greatpartyrecipes.com/pizzadoughrecipes.html To my dough I added italian, oregano, cilantro, and cajun pepper seasons, and olive oil. I let it sit for 30 minutes. After I rolled my dough out I coated it with butter. It cooked for approx 15 minutes at 395 degress. OMG it was the best ever! The homemade dough is extra work but it is well worth it! So soft, so yummy, so good!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
I made these tonight- they turned out GREAT!.. The key to this recipe is more of the good stuff. I used less flour, more sugar, more butter, more vanilla, and I added lemon juice and 1/2 cup of brown sugar w/ a sprinkle of nutmeg. The dough was a bit sticky but just add flour to make it easier to cut out. I let the dough cool for 1 hour. I made them extra thick so they came out sooo chewy and so yummy. This is the best ever!
