Panzanella Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2010
Wow! This is probably the best salad that I have ever made. I took it to a family bbq and we polished it off in one sitting. I made the recipe exactly as stated and it turned out beautifully. This recipe is one that I will definitely make over and over again...like tomorrow!

Rocky Road Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2010
Not only is this recipe super easy to make, it just might be the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had. I was lent an ice cream machine, so I was looking for a no-fail recipe and this was it. I used 2 cups of half and half (because the machine was fairly small) and added chocolate chips in addition to the nuts and marshmallows. Out of this world!!!

Sweet and Silky Strawberry Sorbet

Reviewed: May 17, 2010
OMG! This recipes tastes so good, and is really easy to make. I bought my first quart of strawberries from the farmers' market and made this delicious treat. I didn't use a ice cream maker, just a shallow square baking pan. I was so eager to try it I kept checking on it in the freezer. I'll be making this all summer.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
Great recipe. Made a few adjustment for the bread machine but the recipe still worked well when I cut the ingredients by a third. Added a few tablespoons of wheat germ for added texture

German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
This is soooo good. Even though this is not the quickest recipe around, the aroma that fills your house while this dish is cooking makes it worth the wait. My grandmother came from a German family, and after tasting the cabbage she said this would be something that her mother would have served. This recipes is way better than any other version I have ever tried and no restaurant variety comes close to these flavors.

Bread and Butter Pickles II

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
These were very tasty sweet pickles. The recipe produced about five to six pints. I added about two teaspoons of pickling spice and about a quarter cup of horseradish for my version of sweet horseradish pickles (tastes pretty similar to Nathan's brand).

Wheat Germ Whole-Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: May 28, 2009
I got great reviews from the family. I didn't use whole wheat pastry flour because our super-grocery store didn't carry it. Substituted whole wheat flour, which I think made the pancakes more dense than I would have liked them to be. I made extra so that I could freeze them and re-heat them for breakfast the rest of the week. Overall, I will definitely make this recipe again.

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
I love this bread because it so aromatic and soft. I used fresh rosemary instead or dried, substituted oregano and basil for Italian seasoning, and added a few dashes of garlic powder.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
Wow! This is the best cole slaw that I have ever had. When I started making the dressing, I couldn't help but lick the spoon, as this tangy slaw is just that irresistable. I added just a splash of lemon juice to brighten the flavor just a bit. Great on top on pulled pork sandwich. So easy and popular with guests that you'll never buy store bought again.

Fresh Tomato Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
I was very impressed with this simple, yet delicious recipe. I think the quality of the tomato is key; I used deep red Roma's from the local farmers market, which I think made all the difference. Will definitely put this dish into my meal rotation!
