Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
This makes about 1.5 pounds of dog biscuits. All 3 of my dogs loved them. I did not use spelt flour just whole wheat and ground flax seeds. Cut them into dog shapes truly adorable!

Lou loves these, I reduced water by a cup and left everything else the same. Oh, no red coloring.

Baked Beans from Scratch

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
I added mustard, minced green pepper, ground beef, and omitted the maple syrup to the recipe. Very tasty, we served with corn bread for a complete meal. We will definitely be making again.

Chicken Diablo

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
Overall a good place to start. Second time I made it was much better. We grilled the chicken and cut into bitesize pieces. Did not add the honey, doubled the paprika and cumin. Saute garlic and 1/2 onion in about 1 Tbl butter, add cut chicken and 1/2 cup frozen peas. Only used the sauce cooked and boy was it good!

Miracle Baking Powder Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
Never fails. Refrigerate about 30 minutes and rolls beautifully. Makes top and bottom crust, or 2 deep dish crusts for bottom only. Egg wash before adding filling to prevent soggy bottom. Keep 1/2 dough not working on in refrig til ready to roll it.

Easy Toffee Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
Thank you Naples 34102! She wrote: I've been making this candy for many years because it's that good, and that simple. My recipe varies only slightly from this one, but it may help those who experienced any problems. Line your jelly roll pan with foil, then spray the foil with cooking spray. (This way you won't wreck your pan, and they won't stick) Heat the sugar and butter to boiling, then boil three minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Pour mixture over crackers and bake 5 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over top (I use milk chocolate as a matter of personal preference), then spread evenly as the chocolate begins to melt -- no need to return this to the oven. I then top with 1 cup finely chopped almonds or pecans, pressing down lightly. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, then break into pieces and store in refrigerator. This is no fail and just delicious...addicting too!

Triple the recipe as written and it fills a pint jar nicely. Keeps well. I use 2 Tablespoons of mix to one pound of meat or beans.

Louisiana Crawfish Etouffee

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
We made the recipe as written and thought it was a little thick as well. So, we added some water to thin as bit adn it was perfect. This is a keeper recipe. I used another reviewers hint of boiling the heads in water for the rice water, and it was really delicious.

Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
This is excellent. 1/2 the recipe easily fills a 9 inch small iron skillet. Second time I used fresh frozen cranberries instead of raisins and it was delicious too. I used caraway both times. Do not leave it out, it is what really makes this Irish!

Mrs. Fields Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
These turned out beautifully. I can't wait to ice them They do not spread and hold shape. Followed directions and dough was a little crumbly. Added a little water worked it in and put back in refrig for another hour or so. Far superior to the more spopular sugar cookie recipe on this site. Thanks for a great cookie. I baked on the baking stones.

Gob Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
I was nervous-this was such an odd blend of ingredients and no eggs, I was encouraged to try it from other reviews. It worked beautifully. I followed others advice and did not use the icing recipe, I chose the mocha icing recipe from this site. WOW, really a knock out dessert.

I was really hesitant about adding so much garlic and the beer. It was so definitely worth it. The flavor is outstanding and it freezes so nicely.

Really good. The sauce may need a little more ketchup in it. I added a dash of cider vinegar to give a little kick. Thanks for a great recipe.

These are really good. I made them as the recipe stated. Next time to make them perfect I will use one whole egg, and add 1/4 cup brown sugar to the dough. We thought they were a little dry.
