Lentil Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
I tested this recipe because I though I would be making it for holiday dinner. I read the reviews. Many praised this recipe so I ignored the fewer that said it was bland. I should not have done that. The recipe called for 1 1/8 c of lentils, but the directions said 2 c. I went closer to 2 and think the spices/flavor amounts were supposed to be with the 1 1/8 c. It was pretty bland even though I added onions. If I try this again I will double the basil and garlic powder, add more onions, and put in some bell pepper. However I don't know if I will be making this again, it was too time consuming. Sorry!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

DELICIOUS! Everybody loved them. The only problem is the grease. Cut down on the butter--BIG time! I washed my hands, and they're still shining. It took about 15 to 20 minutes to bake. I'm giving this only 4 stars because the recipe is so common and the butter. Sorry... Still loved it!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2008
These were STUPENDOUS!! They had a nice crunchy outside yet a soft, moist inside. I usually chop up a recipe but I barely altered this one. Instead of 1-1/2 cups of regular flour, I only used 1 cup and 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour. I would also reccomend 2 tsp. vanilla and 1/2 cup of brown sugar instead of 3/4 cup of white sugar. Definitely a keeper!

Berry Burst Sorbet

Delicious but MUCH too sweet! Definetly reduce the sugar but otherwise, it was pretty tasty. I did not have an ice cream machine so made a thick smoothie. Very good!

Chocolate Chip Pudding Cookies

Superb in taste! They tasted fabulous and we are going to use them for a bakesale. The reason I am only giving this 4 stars, though, is because they were MUCH to greasy!!! My hands were shining and I had to add about 1/3 cup more flour and they were STILL greasy! I would reccomend half of the butter, if that, because I found that I had to bake them a bit longer. Good recipe, though. Only problem was the butter.

Gobble Up Granola Snacks

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
These were, as I expected, delectable! The first time I made them, I was pleased but they were a bit too sweet. Many people say up the peanutbutter, corn syrup and brown sugar to 3/4 cup, which I did but I would not reccomend upping the sugar. I could barely taste the peanutbutter. The next time, I used honey to make it healthy and only put in 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Now I am not a honey-lover but this batch is addictive! It was halfway gone by the next day! To make it even better, I put on a peanutbutter spread like frosting and chocolate chips like sprinkles. We ate it as if it were a healthy peanutbutter cake. Definitely a kid-friendly keeper!!

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
Fantastic! I took the advice from the other reviews by subsituting half of the oil for half of a banana puree (even though it took about 10 additional min. to bake.) I also took put in gluten/wheat-free flour and rice milk since my brother is allergic to gluten, wheat and dairy. Usually when you alter something to make it gluten/wheat-free it doesn't taste as good and that also goes for some vegan recipes but this was a hit and tasted the same as standard brownies! This is definitely a keeper!

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
Very good! I did not have butter or shortening so used olive oil. Somebody found out and warned me the brownies would be gross. They were amazing despite a slight veggie aftertaste! It is very hard to ruin a good recipe. I think the olive oil cut the sugar a bit which I would think is a good thing considering there is more sugar than flour. I will most certainly keep this in mind for the next time I must make brownies!

Snickerdoodles I

I am sorry to say I am disappointed. I really feel bad about giving it one star. The recipe was batter so I kept trying to add flour (big mistake!) but gave up and turned them into muffins that came out dry. I will try these again but maybe not add flour and make them muffins.

Simple White Cake

Very nice. I made it for a very picky eater who really ended up liking it. It is simple, though, so I would reccomend a STRONG frosting.

Pumpkin Bread IV

Wow, I made this for a bakesale with my friends but we ate it all up before even selling it! I did take other people's advice by taking away the cloves and adding a tsp. of vanilla and subsituting half of the oil for apple sauce. I would reccomend the cinnamon-sugar glaze on the top!
