Italian Easter Bread (Anise Flavored)

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
This dough was VERY easy to work with. I actually misread the ingredients and only added 1 egg initially. Thankfully, I caught my mistake. I was worried that adding more wet ingredients after the dough had come together would mess with the consistency, but it still worked out well. As another reviewer said, I used vanilla because I had no anise extract (although I'm sure the anise would've been delicious). Finally, I made a cinnamon glaze (1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tbsp margaine, 1 tbsp milk, 1 tbsp cinnamon) to go on top. Yum! The bread also reheated well the next morning with a couple seconds in the microwave.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
This bread turned out simply delicious! I snuck this in the oven yesterday morning as a treat for my husband! I added a little sprinkle of cinnamon and cloves to the batter, and I made a simple cinnamon glaze to coat the loaf. Amazing! Thanks for the go to recipe!

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
My husband LOVED these. He was so disappointed when the grocery store was out of his favorite can of all-natural sloppy joe mix, but he said we don't need to ever buy that again. I didn't have worcestershire, but my mom always used to use vinegar in her taverns and that seemed to work just great! Thanks for such a great recipe!

Glazed Apple Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
These cookies were amazing! The apple I chose made well over 1 cup when diced, so I just added all the apple (including skin) and skipped the raisins. I undercooked them by a minute or two which made the cookies extra soft and moist...almost like a muffin! I used half whole wheat flour and half all-purpose. Also, I added some cinnamon and nutmeg to the icing (which was to-die-for). My house smelled great for hours! I will definitely be making these again!

Justin's Hoosier Daddy Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
My husband always used to RAVE about his mom's chili...but this recipe shut him up really quickly! ;) It's not a super thick chili-more like a soup-but it packs a lot of flavor! I didn't change a thing in the recipe although my husband recommended adding a can of baked beans.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
Wow was this good! I love that look on my husband's face when he is shocked that I actually made something this delicious...and this recipe definitely amazed him. I had to add quite a bit of water to the dough because it was dry. If I make this again, I'll have to remember to just add less flour in the beginning. Very easy to make. I used parchment paper and butter flavored non-stick spray to make clean-up easier. After reading other reviews I lowered the cooking temp to 415 degrees for 8 min. I can't wait to make this for my little brother!

Cake Batter Ice Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
Very yummy ice cream. It actually tastes a lot like Cold Stone's cake batter ice cream (even a similarly thick consistency). I mixed this up for the first time tonight while I was cooking dinner. I didn't really even pay attention to the ice cream mixture when it was on the stove...just stirred one last time before removing from the heat. You could easily substitute lighter ingredients like half-and-half for the heavy whipping cream. I found a reduced-sugar Pillsbury cake mix that worked well. It turned out so thick, creamy and sweet. Great recipe! If you want a real treat...use the rest of the cake mix to make cupcakes. Serve the ice cream over a cupcake with fresh strawberries!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies III

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
These cookies are SOOOOOO good. The creamy filling makes the cookies so moist and delicious. Because other reviewers said that the filling was extra sweet, I added a little extra peanut butter and a bit less powdered sugar. They turned out perfect. I can't wait to make these again! Also, since someone had said that spreading the filling on the cookies caused them to break in her hand, I made the cookies smaller. They came out about 2.5" in diameter and made 18 cookie-sandwiches.

BBQ Chicken Calzones

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
As a newly married girl who has little skill in the kitchen, I searched this recipe out for my husband who loves BBQ Chicken Pizza. He absolutely loves this and asks me to make it weekly. He's bragged enough that I've fixed them for his family too and everyone can't seem to get enough.
