About this Cook
I am 24 and married to my best friend. With cooking I always experiment and try to make old things new and creative. So far my husband says I have accomplished that. I looove cooking but fall flat with baking. But no worries I'm getting there (:
My favorite things to cook
So far I can't really pick anything out. I really like making things the authentic way, even if that means it takes more time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup with homemade noodles and homemade stock! Mmmm.
My cooking triumphs
I'd have to say both my Turkey Meatloaf and Taco Soup. Everyone raves when I make these. I feel like a professional with these dishes! I'm also very proud of my ability to make almost any recipe Vegan safe.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make Pad Thai once... I reduced the sauce so much it was almost a caramel consistancy! Still tasted good though haha.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker
This recipe is amazing!! All I had was tenderloin so I used about six lbs of that. I cooked it from 10:30 pm and shredded it at 8 am. I noticed that it absorbed all the juices so I added a cup of low sodium broth with a tsp of liquid smoke and half tsp of the hawaiian salt, just to make sure to maintain moisture and flavor. Then let cook on low for a couple more hours. Thanks for such a simple recipe!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies
These very soft and hearty! I enjoyed the texture, although I did substitue half of the butter for apple sauce and lower the sugar amount for a lower calorie version. I added white chocolate chips and dried cranberries.

Simple Carnitas
These were really good! I was sad I didn't have more left over lol. I really enjoyed the slight bitterness that the orange peel added. I also cooked this is a crock pot on low for about 8 hours, because I do not own a dutch oven. I used about 1.5 lbs of pork loin because it was what I had on hand, so which means I halved the recipe but I still used two Bay leaves, it added nice earthy flavor. Thanks for the fantastic recipe!
