While I was growing up, the only time my mom bought butter was at Easter (in the shape of a lamb). Other than that, we were a margarine-only family; I guess because it was cheaper than butter and, at that time, people thought it was healthier. A few years ago, I decided to start eating healthier by choosing mostly natural, less processed foods. I switched from margarine to butter not only because butter tastes much better than margarine, but because I believe it's probably healthier since it's all natural. Now that I've gotten used to using butter, I know I'll never switch back to margarine. The added expense is well worth it for the taste and health benefits. I made Smoky Spiced Buttered Popcorn from the Go Bold With Butter website http://goboldwithbutter.com/?s=smoky&submit.x=0&submit.y=0< , and it came out very good. It's a quick, easy, very economical snack.

I remember the butter Easter lambs. We used to get that to! I haven't seen them in VA like in MI though. I always wondered why? My husband liked that popcorn to. :-)

Sarah, I grew up in IL and moved to IN after I got married. They still sell butter lambs in IN and IL, but I haven't bought one in years. Your review of the popcorn recipe was almost exactly what I would have written myself. That popcorn is awesome, isn't it?

Isn't that Popcorn addictive? I loved it - hubby loved it and it was gone in a flash. I had to go make more for the rest of the family. Real butter and popcorn are born to be together - not to mention that spice blend! YUM.

Even my 3-year-old granddaughter ate a bunch of it. She's a very picky eater, and I was surprised she liked it.

While one the subject of butter. Why do so many recipes call for unsalted butter now, and then the same recipe calls for adding salt. Why not just use salted butter as we used to?
