About this Cook
28, mum of three boys, can cook to feed a small army. :)
My favorite things to cook
chocolate fudge cake, vegetable chilli with brown rice, bean soups, chicken soup, creamy tomato soup, lentil and potato pie...
My favorite family cooking traditions
New York baked cheesecake, pumpkin pie, enchiladas, brown (pinto) beans and cornbread.
My cooking triumphs
I made my first meal at the age of 8, which consisted of freshly picked green salad, devilled eggs, and homemade bread and butter... my mother taught me to make a simple Italian bread at this age and I loved doing it.
My cooking tragedies
A horrendous French onion soup for my mother's birthday, cooked when I was 13, was a disaster. My siblings refused to eat it, but my parents bravely attempted to do so. It was awful! I had added way too much Worcestershire sauce thinking it would improve the flavour... not so! Fortunately, I have continued to be adventurous with recipes, albeit now with a bit more experience and common sense.

Cranberry Upside-Down Coffee Cake
Beautiful... I used a regular round cake tin (2 1/2 inches high), buttered and floured, with a circle of baking paper cut to fit the bottom. Also buttered the top of that for good measure. Works perfectly.

Beezie's Black Bean Soup
This was a lovely, filling soup. I added extra garlic and spices, which is more to our tastes. I also used red peppers, and extra beans. Perfect with buttered sourdough bread or cornbread.

Turkish Delight
This is alright; I am not a dedicated fan of Turkish delight but this was better than shop-bought Turkish delight, though not as good as REAL Middle-Eastern Turkish delight. (obviously!) I'm a little surprised about other reviewers wanting to change the colour; it is meant to be pale, though also meant, as others have mentioned, to be flavoured with rosewater.
