Swiss Chicken Casserole II

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
We had this for dinner a few nights ago. I made it in the slow cooker with partially frozen thinly sliced chicken breasts.I cooked on high for 2 hours and then turned down to low for 2. I'm only giving it 4 stars because you couldn't really taste the swiss cheese...My crock pot cooks very quickly and I think I may have over cooked it! I will be making this again, but will only cook on low for 4 hours. It really was delicious and I think it will be 5 stars with the adjustment. Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
I made this for dinner last night and it was fabulous! I even put the turkey breast in frozen....I used a 3 lb. frozen Butterball turkey breast, added the onion soup, cooked on high for 2 hours, then turned down to low for another 2 hours....Wow! It was great. I was worried about not adding any liquid, but since the turkey was frozen, I figured that might give it enough moisture..After the 4 hours, I took out the turkey, removed the netting and wrapped it in foil to keep warm while I added the gravy packet that came with the turkey and some water with about 2 tbsp of flour to the slow cooker. Turned up the heat to high and left it for a half hour. Gravy came out great and breast was ready to slice. I served with mashed potatoes and corn. Everyone raved about how moist the turkey was. Thank you for the recipe. This is one I will use over and over again.** Addition** 2/11/09--I have made this a few more times and added a can of cranberries to the slow cooker with the onion soup.WOW! My family loves it and it is a super easy meal to make. Thanks again for the recipe.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
This was absolutely delicious, just like the beef stew my Mom used to make. I did make a few adjustments....I added about a half a tsp. more of the paprika. Halway through, I added an additional tsp. of salt and an additonal tsp of minced garlic( I tasted it and thought it needed it.)I also added fresh string beans about an hour before it was ready. I cooked on high for 6 hours. The beef was tender and the vegetables perfect! This is a wonderful meal. Thank you so much for this recipe. I looked at other beef stew recipes and finally chose this one to try. I'm glad I did!

Crab Quiche I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
This was incredibly easy to make and a perfect light dinner/brunch meal.I made changes suggested by some reviewers--I made with 3 eggs, 2 cans of drained lump crab, 1 tsp. Old Bay seasoning, 2 cloves of garlic, 1 tsp. hot sauce and used swiss and gruyere cheeses and baked it for 55 minutes . We liked it, but my BF commented that he thought it needed something...next time, I'll try with cheddar and maybe a tad more of the spices...Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2008
This is an excellent recipe! Simple, easy and delicious. Followed recipe exactly, except that I used cream of mushroom soup instead of cream of chicken.I cooked on low for 4 hours and it was ready....(my slow cooker is hot)The only thing I'll do differently next time is that I'll add some fresh sliced mushrooms. I served this with Country Crock Loaded Mashed Potatoes and my BF just loved it!Thanks for the recipe.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
What a great recipe! Very easy and it was absolutely delicious!! I served it over wide egg noodles...When my BF tasted it, he said it tastes just like his Grammy's (she made hers from scratch.)I followed the recipe except for using a 14 oz can of chicken broth with roasted garlic instead of water and I put one package of the biscuits in after 3 1/2 hours and cooked it for the remaining 1 1/2 hours. I used partially defrosted chicken breasts that were sliced very thinly. This way I didn't have to shred the chicken. I just used the serving spoon to cut the chicken into smaller pieces. This is a great meal to serve in the cooler weather.

This is a great recipe. I wanted to make something super simple last night so I tried this. Even though I used my new George Foreman grill and cooked them a little too long, they were still great!! I'll definitely cook this again, only this time make the burgers medium/medium rare....Delicious! Thanks for the recipe!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
I thought this was an excellent, easy dish. It's delicious...I doubled the called for olive oil and garlic because the chicken breasts I had on hand were very large. It was a good thing I did! The end result was wonderful.

Oven-Crisped Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
I didn't think these were anything special. I added more onion (1/2 an onion) and butter (5 tbsp),used the called for amount of pepper but no other seasonings. I felt that this dish could have used salt and some other spices to make it more interesting.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
This is an excellent recipe. I was looking for a recipe that didn't use "cream of xxx soup". I made it last night and the only thing I did differently was I used fresh chicken breasts instead of frozen.I used a wonderful barbeque sauce- Saz's...then I cooked it on high for 3 hours and added some Wondra flour to thicken the sauce a bit directly to the slow cooker at the end. We didn't need to use knives. I served it with corn on the cob. It was delicious and very easy!

Mozzarella Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
I made this for dinner last night and was a little nervous because I've never rolled up chicken....it was wonderful and it was so easy! I used shredded mozzarella instead of slices because that's what I had on hand...next time, I'll try the slices..."Yummy" was the opinion of my family.

Spicy Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2008
This was very good. I'd give it 4.5 stars.....easy and very tasty. I grilled them on my George Foreman grill. A hint** I marinate meat by making the marinade and then pouring it into a zip loc gallon size bag. I put the meat inside and shake around to coat it and then I put it into a smaller bowl so that the sides of the bag are up and the meat is surrounded by marinade. This way it isn't lying flat and you don't have to turn it constantly.

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
We really enjoyed this recipe. I followed the directions exactly, but added some minced garlic (around 2 tsps. )I cooked it on low for 6 hours, but I think it would have been ready in 5...I took some cool water, added about 1 tsp. cornstarch mixed it together and then put into the pot to thicken the sauce about a half hour before the time was up. I served it over rice and it was delicious! I think next time, I'll only cook for 5 hours and add the peppers about half way through since I do like them soft. Thanks for the recipe.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
I thought this was a good recipe. I made it last night and I only made a couple of additions. I added fresh mushrooms and a 1/2 c of dry white wine at the beginning. Some hints...I softened the margarine before I mixed it in with the dressing mix..this helped coat the chicken better. Then, when it was time to stir in the cream cheese and soup, I softened the cream cheese in the microwave first and then mixed with the soup before I added to the crock pot.. I also used low fat cream of chicken soup and low fat cream cheese and it still was excellent-and very rich!Yum!

Italian Chicken Marinade

I made this chicken last night but had to cook indoors because it started to rain. I thought it was pretty good...next time I might add a little more salt...I baked in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes and then placed it under the broiler for 5 minutes to finish it.

Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Blue Cheese-Chive Butter

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
I made this recipe with filet mignon. I marinaded the steaks overnight and then seared them (with about a 1/4 tsp of sugar on each side-it speads the process up). I then baked them on a roasting rack in a shallow pan in a 325 oven for 25 minutes. They turned out perfectly!!It was delicious and I didn't have to spend all that time over a grill. I thought that the blue cheese butter, while good, could have used a little something. Next time I think I'll add a little garlic salt to the butter. Thanks for the recipe!
