Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2011
This is one of the most deserving 5-star recipes on this site. I would pay good money for these in an upscale bakery... heck, I would pay good money for these in ANY bakery.

Actually Delicious Buffalo Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2011
My version of the Actually Delicious Turkey Burger is an Actually Delicious Buffalo Turkey Burger. Mix some ranch and wing sauce to top them, and you won't know you're not eating a buffalo wing. So good!

Basic Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2011
At first, I didn't care for these muffins... then, they cooled down a bit and the edges became crispy and crunchy and the sweetness really came through. Yum! I am so pleased they turned out better than what I thought they had!!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
Very good! I can't believe I haven't rated this. We have this almost religiously. The beans are easy to substitute with anything you have on hand. It's also easy to cook on the stove in a dutch oven... It never needs to be cooked as long as it says... or it can be cooked longer! Very versatile. Yuengling Light has been my beer of choice lately, but I've used Heineken and Dos Equis with good results -- I think I've used Miller Lite at times, too. With this last batch, I doubled all the canned ingredients (added an extra can of cream corn), the beer, and tripled Bill Echols' Taco Seasoning I -- it was awesome but too spicy for the kids. So, the next day (today), I added two more cans of corn, a can of light red kidney beans, two cans of vegetarian beans packed in tomato sauce and another batch of Bill Echols' seasoning (minus the pepper flakes) -- YUM! The kids really enjoyed the less spicy version, and I'm enjoying a super cheap meal that has fed us multiple times. As I said, it is VERY versatile. =]

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
This recipe was OK. My 10-year-old son told me it was good but not my best chicken. My husband just kinda shook his head and agreed that it was good. Those were mediocre responses from my boys. I followed the recipe pretty exactly -- I didn't have parsley flakes, so I left them out. I don't know if the lime juice curdled the butter or what, but I did not spoon the oily mess over the chicken breasts. I tried to save it by turning it into a sort-of gravy/sauce mixture, but that didn't work. As far as the chicken itself went, like I said, it was good but "not my best," and I like to use premium dried spices... Maybe, if there's a next time, I'll try fresh garlic as fresh is almost always better.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
My husband couldn't find the words to describe how good these burritos taste. I found them exceptionally good as well. I ended up making approximately 30 burritos with the soft taco size tortillas. I'm going to freeze the rest. I used three cans of black beans and only 1 cup of water. I left everything else the same except for cooking the spices with the onion and garlic mixture for a couple of minutes. Absolutely addictive! -- especially the next day.

Quick Chinese-Style Vermicelli (Rice Noodles)

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2011
Doubled the soy, chili sauce, and garlic as recommended. My husband really liked these. I made 'em to go with the Grilled Asian Chicken. Two easy and pretty tasty recipes. I'm happy, but next time I'll boil the noodles for a minute and a half.

Grilled Asian Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2011
Yum. I cooked the chicken on the stove instead of grilling it, and it was still pretty tasty. Served with the Quick Chinese-Style Vermicelli.

Vegetarian Chickpea Sandwich Filling

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2011
I had a few ripe farmer's market tomatoes to eat for lunch today, so I decided to have this filling with one on a sandwich. While the filling was edible, I did not find it very good at all. I'm not a vegetarian, but I enjoy my garbanzos, so I thought I'd really like this filling. It definitely tastes like it's missing something to me. UPDATE: The husband came home and really liked it, so I upped the rating to 3 stars. He even thought there was chicken in the filling.

Baked Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
These were good but not the best. I would still like to say that I am grateful for a recipe for buffalo wings that does not require frying and still produces a pretty tasty wing. The only way I could get them to kinda-sorta crisp up was to broil them for several minutes on each side - twice - after baking them at 425 for 45 min. My son asked for buffalo wings for his 10th birthday dinner and was very happy with the results, so I can't say I'd ask for anything more. Thanks! =]

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2011
These turkey burgers were actually delicious. When my husband and I were almost finished eating dinner, I asked him what he thought about the turkey burgers. He said, "They're turkey?!" Enough said. =] I used 2 lbs of turkey, 2 handfuls of Italian seasoned breadcrumbs, 3 cloves of garlic, 1/2 small onion, a whole egg in lieu of 2 egg whites, dried parsley, and salt and pepper to taste. I formed 8 patties, and let them chill in the fridge for about an hour or so. Then they were grilled on a preheated Foreman for grill 3 minutes, turned over, and grilled for 2 more minutes. Juicy burger perfection. Thanks so much!!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
The icing is phenomenal. Apparently, the oven in our new house bakes at nearly 500 degrees when set to 350, so my brownies did not turn out. :( BUT, the frosting was delicious and satisfied my sweet tooth anyway. :) I refrigerated the frosting since the brownie bricks wouldn't be needing it, and when cold, it was almost like eating a really great fudge.

Angel Food Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
Genius idea, Gail. Thanks for posting this recipe as I would not have tried to make cupcakes out of angel food cake. Unfortunately, my cupcakes did not turn out as many others' did. I also used the BC 16 oz. box mix, and mine turned flat and crispy. It could have been a mistake on my part, so I will try to make them again sometime. They did taste very good, though. =]
