Sausage Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2012
Super recipe! My family loves it. It's so hearty and slices beautifully and is just perfect for the busy family. I can make it Sunday night and serve it with a little fruit and my kids have a wonderful breakfast all week.

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2012
I can't express my thanks for this perfect recipe. I have literally tried so many ways to make homemade bread. I had even tried a bread machine and was only able to make hot dough! This recipe is perfect as is. I've got a stand mixer and just throw the ingredients in it, use the kneading hook through the whole process and follow the instructions. I usually make the 3 large loaves, but tried one of the suggestions and made 2 loaves and made the best homemade cinnamon rolls in the world with the remaining dough. Another time I added 1 cup wheat flour and 7 cups white flour and it was really good too. This is the most consistent recipe I've ever made. No matter how many times I make it it's perfect every time.

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
Thank you so much for the great instructions! The maple sausage is wonderful. My family has teased me for years saying that I didn't have the "gravy gene" due to my complete inablility to make homemade gravy. (Which is practically a sin in the south!) My gravy turned out perfect!

Buttery Corn Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
Being from the south I've had just about every cornbread around and this one is great and simple! The only thing I can add is to make it in a cast iron skillet. Pour just enough oil to lightly coat the bottom of the skillet and put the skillet in the oven while it preheats and you mix the ingredients. Then when you pour the mixture into the skillet it gives your cornbread the most amazing crispy crust.

Old-Fashioned Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
LOVED IT! Just the way I remember strawberry shortcake from when I was little....I use just a little more sugar than called for in the dry mixture. We like sweet. I saw that a couple of people commented that it was dry. But it is crumbly, not dry, it's supposed to be that way so that it absorbs the strawberry juice. Also, serve it with vanilla icecream on a hot day! Super recipe!

Potato Bacon Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
Wow....we loved this recipe. I've searched for ages for a great potato soup that wasn't runny and had plenty of flavor. I gave it five stars because as directed it was wonderful. But later I remembered that someone told me that a lot of time in restaurants they add cream cheese. Well, the next time I made it I left out the sour cream, and added an entire package of light cream cheese and let it melt down into the chowder and it was soooooo creamy and great!

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
Loved it! We had picked a full basket of blueberries this morning and wanted to make something quick and easy and freeze the rest. This was perfect! I'm not what you would call a good "baker", but my husband and neighbors were blown away by this one! It was so easy I made 3! By the 3rd I cut the butter to 3tsp and added about another 3/4 of berries and lots of sugar on top. Thanks so much!!
