About this Cook
I am a 42 yr. old, mother of 4, Grandma of two. I learned to cook when I was about 7. I am Puerto Rician, born and raised in Hawaii, so I cook a lot of different foods.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite of course, is the traditional Puerto Rican foods. Gondule rice, chicken stew, beans and ham, pastelles. YUMMY
My favorite family cooking traditions
I was taught that you sufrito the tomato sauce with the onions, fresh garlic, cumin, and cilantro everytime you cook. Or that you bath poultry and soak in vinegar over night.
My cooking triumphs
My Thanksgiving turkey turning out moist and perfect. Or my Grandma's home made chile recipe that I made and tasted almost like hers.
My cooking tragedies
Burning a whole batch of peanut brittle, burned birthday cake, cup cakes, and cookies. I do not bake sweets as good as I cook food.

Easy Chocolate Ice Cream
This was my first attempt at homemade ice cream. I found this recipe to be very easy. I read all the reviews first and made some changes to the ingredients. I used 1 c. of whipping cream and 1 c. of half and half instead of 2 c. of whipping cream. I also used 1/3 c. of Hersey's unsweetened coco instead of the syrup. I really enjoyed the flavor and the ice cream didn't seem to be real rich like some of the reviews. It was a huge success with my family. The texture was excellent and creamy.
