Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
excellent! I was forced to make a slight substitution as i realized i didn't have any allspice, so i just subbed in more cinnamon and a little nutmeg. next time i'll make sure i have allspice, though this was still excellent!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
this turned out really well! I didn't have 3 of the loaf pans, so i just used one full baking sheet and turned into more of a square/cake. still turned out wonderful

Strawberry Vanilla Pancakes

these are excellent! whipped some up the other morning after picking a ton of strawberries (now I have to use them all however I can!) and they were great, my wife and i both loved them

Icy Blender Lemonade

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
definitely very good. i followed the advice of previous posters without question and removed the sections of the lemon from the membrane and peel... that's just too much pulp otherwise! you can always use them for zest in other things. at any rate, turned out great!

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
This recipe was so ridiculously easy and the bread is excellent. We just came back from Italy and this is a very good rendition of some of the breads we tasted there, particularly in the northern regions.

Campbell's® Slow Cooker Hearty Beef and Bean Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
Excellent chili! I prefer mine to be spicier so chances are I'll turn up the heat next time, but in terms of cost and resulting quality, it doesn't get much better than this (not to mention how easy it is to make with the crock pot)

Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
This was exceptionally good, though I'll admit I didn't have any Sage around so I had to improvise slightly (followed some others' recommendations of subbing in Italian spices & fennel seed). In terms of seasoning this worked very well. Why I give only 4 out of 5 is that I thought the sausage lacked a little "bite"... possibly some fresh chili pepper would help. I will try this the next time I make these.

These are awesome! Very dangerous though, to the waistline that is!

Bird Seed Energy Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
These are awesome! I've made 3 batches now and will keep doing it until I find something that is better - IE cheaper to make without sacrificing healthiness... not that these are overly expensive but not exactly cheap either. But all our family and friends love them!

Irish Soda Bread Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
Though it wasn't love at first bite, I quite enjoy these. Easy to make, but definitely an acquired taste. My wife loves them. My coworkers hate them. They're definitely of the savory-dessert-variety, not sweet at all, and very bold flavored.

Icelandic Pepper Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
These were excellent and a hit with everyone who tried them. However, the recipe does yield some interesting dough.. i've never personally seen dough spread THAT much. The first batch I did ended up being Icelandic Pepper LOAF. Ultimately it was still bloody amazing, but somewhat wasteful. I downsized and the rest turned out to be nicely sized cookies. Will definitely make this again!

Blue Cheese Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
This gets 5 out of 5! Its amazing, easy to make, relatively cheap, and very versatile in its application --veggies, wings, chips, you name it! I went for danish blue cheese which I found to be less creamy and easy to crumble... i'm by no means a blue cheese expert, but from eyeballing in the supermarket, this seemed like the best option. I also used light mayo (PC brand for those of you north of the 49th), and light sour cream and it was still excellent and not lacking by any means. The yield is quite large so be forewarned... this is a dip for a large party. if you're planning a smaller event, and don't want leftovers, definitely decrease the quantities.

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
followed the recipe exactly, and was very pleased with the result! I would agree with previous commentary that you should look to make more of the sauce (I wouldn't say double, but definitely increase the amount) because the amount in this recipe was just barely adequate for the amount of wings, and the added bonus being you'll have some left over for dipping. Wonderful recipe though, was a hit with my dinner guests

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
I too do not possess a deep fryer so as others suggested, I baked. However, I did pan fry the wings (I actually used drummettes) for about 15 minutes in olive oil, then battered them, refrig'd for about 90 mins, then baked for 45 @ 350, and finally added the sauce. these babies were HOT! They don't seem like it at first but it catches you by surprise! anyway, 4 out of 5 because its not perfect, but good!

Butternut Squash Fries

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
These are excellent. I do however agree with a previous reviewer.. must toss these in some good olive oil first. on my second attempt at making them i fried them briefly with some olive oil and then put them into our counter-top oven for 20 minutes at 450 on bake, followed by another 10 minutes on broil just to crisp the outsides more. turned out amazing!

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
This is an excellent, easy chili recipe. I can't say its "the Best!" but its definitely good. I added some chopped jalapeno to it to help give a little more kick... still not spicy enough in my opinion, but the spiciness that does exist is nice and even from start to finish.

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2008
very yummy... a tad salty though. if you have any sort of heart condition, i would recommend seriously cutting down on the amount of salt. in fact, i'd almost recommend that anyway from a "preventative" point of view. i'd almost say that it would still retain its level of taste with nearly half the salt. good otherwise!

Classic Spanish Sangria

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2008
wow... just a tad too much rum. for those who like it strong, follow this to the letter. for those who like it reasonable, cut the rum in half. but i do like my bevy's with a bold taste so i enjoy this one overall, thus the 4 stars
