Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2012
This was my first time making applesauce and I was pleased with how simple the process is! I can't believe I am going to say this, but it was too sweet and I would recommend cutting back the sugar unless you like it super sweet. I would make this again with a sugar adjustment. I used an immersion blender to blend the apples once removed from the stove.

Mushroom-Vegetable Ragu with Fettuccine

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2012
The sauce was great but the recipe lacked overall flavor. I added extra garlic, onion, and red bell pepper seasonings. I would make this again.

Pizza Primavera

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2012
The Progresso Recipe Starters Basil Sauce makes a wonderful pizza! Make sure you follow the directions and pre-bake the crust and not use more than the recommended sauce. I accidently poured too much onto the crust and it ended up a bit soggy in the middle. The pizza tasted even better then second day and the extra sauce absorbed and was no longer soggy. I opted to not use frozen veggies and made our pizza with fresh mushrooms and onion instead. I will make this again!

I made this without the sausage as I don't eat meat. I followed the recipe otherwise and turned out great. I would make this again.

Apple Pie Slinger Milkshake

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2012
I first made this exactly how the recipe was written and found that it was too thin. I would suggest lowering the amount of apple juice or added triple the ice cream. I topped mine with fresh whip and a dollop of caramel apple topping I got at a local store. It is delicious, but it small amounts and would say this recipe serves two instead of one.

Cremesicle Smoothie

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
I made the recipe as written with the addition of the optional sugar. I love that this drink become frothy once blended but it is overall lacking flavor. In my opinion it is a bit too milky and I would likely use 3/4 orange juice and 1/4 milk next time.

I never tried this exact variation, but I followed the recipe as written with the exception of using milk chocolate in place of semisweet. Turned out great!

Oreo® Vanilla Milkshake

Beautiful milkshake! I love the extra added flavor of vanilla which is what sets this apart from the ordinary Oreo milkshakes. I used homemade vanilla ice cream and we added fresh whip on top!

Homemade Ice Cream Cones

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2012
I don't have a waffle griddle so my waffle bowls were not gorgeous, but the recipe did work out good. I used a flat griddle on medium-low heat and allowed them to slowly brown. They were a little tricky to flip the first time and then they were golden brown I draped them over the bottoms of wine and custard glasses. They hardened fairly quickly, within a couple of minutes. I did burn a couple of fingertips in the process of trying to pick them up when turning because I needed to get my spatula underneath. **Tip** To shape them over a bowl or glass, place a paper towl over the hot waffle cone so you can touch it and hold it in place as you shape the cup as you need. Hold for a minute until it cools and remove the paper towel.

Buttermilk Shake

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2012
I didn't find that it tasted like cheesecake at all despite following the recipe. It tastes like buttermilk which isn't an overly pleasing taste since it dominates the shake. It was different than any type of shake I have made which was one of the reasons I was eager to try this. I personally won't make it again. It was good and it wasn't bad, just not for me.

Orange Cream Milk Punch

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2012
I was a little unsure about the milk and soda fizz mixture but I was intrigued so I decided to give it a try. I just cleaned my fridge yesterday and dumped my last remaining ginger ale and we don't have soda so I replaced that with champagne. It vanilla, orange sherbet has a very creamy taste. Make sure you stir well and allows the ice creams to fully mix with the liquids.

Healthier Absolutely the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2012
The Cheerios and pureed kiwi was an interesting twist so I wanted to give it a try. To be honest I didn't know what to expect after I decided to make this recipe. I happen to have all the ingredients on hand, well I had Peanut Butter Cheerios and Chocolate Cheerios so I went with the Peanut Butter. The cookies didn't brown much when I took them out of the oven. I allowed them to cool and tasted and was surprised this is a fantastic cake-like cookie.
