Mother's Day Delight

This year my husband insisted that I pick out some things for Mother's Day. I spent a couple of days last week walking around the mall trying to find clothing that I like and the few items that I found were too expensive......who pays $69.99 for a cardigan on clearnance, right?
Over the weekend, I went to the Navy Exchange and the Marine Corps Exchange because they have a decent selection of kitchen goods. I found the Martha Stewart Collection tea kettle and food copper that the NEX and today I found the retro timer, jumbo muffin pan and the sunflower cake pan at the MCX.
Can you believe that the sunflower pan was only $2.34? They had a ton of them, so they were marked down. I love the color of the tea kettle, timer and chopper. It matches my blue, brown and green theme I have going on.
I just wanted to share my new finds with everyone, Happy Mother's Day! ;)

That's such a pretty color blue! What recipe is going on the maiden voyage of your new sunflower pan?

I am not sure what I will make using the sunflower pan yet. I think some sort of lemon bundt cake would be good in it? I am undecided.....

I'm sure whatever you make will turn out great! I love your pictures by the way, I wish I could be a good baker as well.

Love the color - kind of a "Tiffany" blue! I decorated our guest room with that color as an accent. So pretty!

What?! That is an amazing price for the pan. I love shopping for the kitchen but it's even sweeter when it's such a deal. I hope you had a great mother's day.

Gorgeous blue color, great cake pan price! In your Presonal profile pix, I saw that you also have the sunflower jumbo muffin pan. How did you get them out intact?? Each of the few times I've tried to make muffins/cupcakes in my sunflower muffin pan, they have become stuck in it, & fall apart! Help, please!

I use either Crisco Professional baking spray, much like the Pam for baking or I will use the Wilton cake release. I take a small butter knife that it slightly pointed with smooth side and I run it along the edges carefully to make sure that nothing is sticking to the pan and I gently lift up to release the bottom if I have to.

Those are soooo cool! I asked for an AeroGarden which is not nearly as economical--but my 8 yo and I set it up yesterday and I already have a lettuce seed sprouting!!! Lots of home grown greens and herbs.

You were so smart to NOT spend your money on clothes and instead BUY COOKING STUFF. Only a true AR'er will appreciate this. And so lucky to shop at the NEX and get such good prices. You'll remember these "gifts" for ever!

Who doesn't love a good bargain. Hope I can find some near me.

About Me
I am a Southern California wife and mother of one. I am a simple person that enjoys home decor, baking, and spending time with my family. You can also find me on YouTube - House of Aqua:
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making a variety of ice cream, cookies, cakes, and candies. In recent years I have branched out by making new dinner recipes and found that I enjoy the challenge.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a daughter that loves to help me bake. We spend Christmas Eve in the kitchen making special cookies for Santa together.
My cooking triumphs
I consider tempering chocolate and making caramels a triumph. You either get it right or your wrong!
My cooking tragedies
I failed several times at trying to make fondant centers for truffles. I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while!
