Cake into Brownies

Do not forget to add your baking soda and baking powder! I turned an elegant and light tasting cake into dense brownies today. I made the Dark Chocolate I recipe from this site previously and I think it is a fabulous cake. I haven't made it in many months so I decided to make it today. When reading the recipe, I have to mix the ingredients and it is out of the normal order of how I do things and I forgot the baking powder and baking soda. I continued to bake it and made the chocolate ganache for the top. I can only eat a 2x2 square at a time because it turned out to be very dense. It would make very moist and dense brownies if that is what you are looking for! This was a good reminder for me to make sure I check off each ingredient before putting anything in the oven.

What ingredient did you recently forget to add?

I've never forgotten an ingredient where it drastically changed the end result *knock on wood*. Your brownies look scrumptious anyway! I like that Dark Chocolate Cake recipe too.

I remember once I added by mistake cinnamon to a chicken dish instead of paprika. Both containers were close to each other, same brand, similar color... It didn't taste good at all.

This is pretty much the first time that I can remember than I forgot to add a couple of ingredients. Usually, I run thorugh the list in my head. They still taste great, more like an elegant brownie I guess. I poured some chocolate ganache on top. I will probably still ending up throwing them away sometime today. I love to bake, but I am not eating as many sweets as I use to and my husband doesn't eat them much.

At least your error didn't result in bodily injury like my cooking errors tend to do! I've burned myself in every wa imagineabl while cooking, even while operating a blender. Don't ask. :) Anyway, the cake still looks fabulous!

My favorite things to cook
I love baking a wide variety of cookies, cakes and candies as baking is my specialty. I also have been branching out and making different dinner foods and bread. I enjoy grilling vegetables and bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My daughter loves to help me bake. My daughter is destined to have a love for baking and has her own apron, mini baking sheets, and cookie cutters. She helps me each and every time I am bake.
My cooking triumphs
I can temper chocolate and I can make caramels, I consider those my triumphs at the moment since it can be tricky to work with chocolate and caramel.
My cooking tragedies
I have been trying to make candy from scratch. I failed several times at trying to make the fondant for candy and truffle centers, I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while.
