My daughter, Alexa, turned 3 on April 4th and we held her birthday party at our home on that day. I wanted to share some photos of the snacks!
 
~I made Chocolate Covered Strawberries
~Giant Cookie
~Best Rolled Sugar Cookies with Sugar Cookie Icing
And I we had a cake made from Cold Stone Creamery that was yellow cake with cake batter ice cream.
 
The theme was pink, brown and white colors.

I also had over 30 pink, white and brown balloons tied all over the house too! I have been making the strawberries for a while. I just make sure I stir them well and I temper the chocolate, so ir hardens within minutes of dipping them. Thank you!

I have been looking at your cookies that you decorate and they look so beautiful. I wish I could get my cut out cookies to look like yours. How do you put the icing on your cut outs? Mine don't look nearly as good as yours. Great job!!

I use the Sugar Cookie Icing recipe from this site. It is a smooth icing because of the corn syrup in it, so it is very forgiving. I use the Wilton "paint brushes" and I paint the icing onto the cookies. I am very basic with my decorating though...

Thanks for letting me know. I will have to try that. I have used that icing twice now, but maybe I am thining it too much, because it flows right off the cookie sometimes. I have tried dipping them and also using a candy bottle to put it on. So far the dipping did the best job for me, but need to test out the brushes. Thanks!!!

If the icing is running, it is too thin. Add more powdered sugar and if it ever gets too tough, add more milk, not the corn syrup. I can't even begin to count how many times I have made this icing. You should be able to spread it or paint it without it running off the cookie. I use the Wilton paint brushes and sometimes I use a smooth angled spatula (Wilton).

My cooking triumphs
I consider tempering chocolate and making caramels a triumph. You either get it right or your wrong!
My cooking tragedies
I failed several times at trying to make fondant centers for truffles. I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while!
