Retro Candy Party Success!

The retro candy theme birthday party was a success! I served a variety of mini bagels as well as a variety of cream cheese, fruit, and chocolate chip coffee cake from an AllRecipes recipe.

For beverages I prepared party punch from AllRecipes using blue punch, rainbow berry sherbet, and ginger ale. I also served cold chai latte, lemon water, and sparkling wine.

Last year I made a homemade cake inspired by Cold Stone using homemade cake batter ice cream and red velvet cake. I even went as far as finding Pastry Pride, the product Cold Stone uses to frost their white cakes in. This year I opted to just buy a Cold Stone cake. It was pricey as a large round cake costs $35 but it was worth not rushing around trying to clean our home, decorate, grocery shop, and take on a huge baking task.

At the end of the party, the both children and adults filled retro popcorn bags with gummy bears and worms, sixlets, tootsie rolls, licorice, fresh baked cookies, Twix, rock candy, cherry candy sticks, and more!

Such pretty colors! Love what you "did" with the chandelier!

Very nice! I, too, like the chandelier. Daughter & I were just at a candy store that sold all those wonderful old candies! We laughed at the candy necklaces - so cool, but when you think about wearing the candy around your neck or wrist and just biting off a piece when you want - kinda gross! :) We all loved them as kids, though!

Sounds like a fun party! The colors are so pretty. I think I will copy your balloon colors for our next ice cream social for the neighborhood kids.

About Me
I am a Southern California wife and mother of one. I am a simple person that enjoys home decor, baking, and spending time with my family. You can also find me on YouTube - House of Aqua: http://www.youtube.com/user/HouseOfAqua/videos?sort=dd&flow=list&page=1&view=0
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making a variety of ice cream, cookies, cakes, and candies. In recent years I have branched out by making new dinner recipes and found that I enjoy the challenge.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a daughter that loves to help me bake. We spend Christmas Eve in the kitchen making special cookies for Santa together.
My cooking triumphs
I consider tempering chocolate and making caramels a triumph. You either get it right or your wrong!
My cooking tragedies
I failed several times at trying to make fondant centers for truffles. I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while!
