Coconut M&M's

I previously wrote a blog about the Pretzel M&M's asking what you guys thought about them. The blog became wildly popular which I didn't expect at all. The overall assessment from the responses is that most people do not care for the Pretzel M&M's.
Today, I finally laid eyes on Coconut M&M's at last! They were in the checkout lane with the other candies at my local Target. I resisted grabbing two bags but now wish I did.
I love the Coconut M&Ms! They are the size of a Peanut Butter M&M's and have a smooth medium coconut flavor in the center.
What do you think of the new Coconut M&M's? Have you been able to find them in your area?

I have tried both the pretzel and coconut M&M's over the summer. I was able to find them at The Dollar General. I really disliked the pretzel but loved the coconut ones. I almost liked them as much as the peanut M&M's, which are my favorite.
Dec. 9, 2010 6:59 pm
I detest the Coconut M&M's. They taste completely artificial with a chemical after taste. Sorry.
Dec. 9, 2010 7:04 pm
I think almost everything in M&M's is artificial!
Dec. 9, 2010 7:08 pm
and that is why I love Smarties so much...there is no artificial flavours or colours in them! OOPS! need to clarify... 'Smarties' in Canada are NOT the hard, sugar-laden, fruit flavoured candies you Americans call Smarties... our 'smarties' are like M&M's, candy-coated chocolate in a variety of colours and they taste WAY better (ok...biased!) ;)
Dec. 9, 2010 7:19 pm
I LOVE cocnut M&Ms! They come and go "up" here - and I tend to buy them when I see them. At first I only found them at the cash register at a certain Walgreen's - then they disappeared there . . . They had them for a while at Costco - then those disappeared . . .
Dec. 9, 2010 8:03 pm
I've never seen them! But, I don't frequent the candy aisle, so that's why I may not have seen them! By the time I'm in the checkout lane, I'm too busy wondering what I didn't get on to the shopping list to even look at the candy displays!
Dec. 9, 2010 8:03 pm
I like the coconut M&Ms! Then again, I have yet to find an M&M I don't love (I'm always happy for the holidays to roll around because they have the mint M&Ms on the shelves!). We have had the coconut ones here in NW Illinois for a few months now. I made my favorite coconut cookies (Chewy Coconut Cookies from AR) and put a few on the tops of each. Yum :)
Dec. 9, 2010 8:06 pm
I like the coconut ones just wish the flavor was stronger since I love coconut. Just tried the pretzel ones last weekend and really liked them!
Dec. 9, 2010 8:07 pm
Not a big fan of the coconut ones. They've been available in my area for awhile. Have you tried the Mint M&M's? They are delicious. Our dollar store had them out about this time last year.
Dec. 9, 2010 8:12 pm
I still have been unable to locate the oh so elusive Coconut M&Ms. I did try the pretzel ones, and I liked them well enough, but certainly not my favorite. I am going to keep my eyes peeled...maybe I can find the coconut ones now that the holidays are here.
Dec. 9, 2010 9:22 pm
Love M&M's, hate coconut. So, for me, it would be a big fat no way! My favorite is peanut M&M's and Almond M&M's.
Dec. 10, 2010 2:41 am
We don't have Target here (we are stuck with K-Mart, yuck) and I haven't seen the coconut M&Ms for sale anywhere!!! We've both been looking, too.
Dec. 10, 2010 3:48 am
Love the coconut ones!!!!!
Dec. 10, 2010 3:49 am
Love the coconut ones!!!!!
Dec. 10, 2010 4:36 am
Oohh I want to try these, I loooove coconut! Have never seen them, though we did have the pretzel M&Ms here, so maybe the coconut ones are lurking somewhere too. Gitano, I really disagree with you! Smarties do NOT taste better to me. I wouldn't say I "hate" them, but I don't really like them (except maybe chopped up in a DQ Blizzard). Then again though I really don't care for plain M&Ms either... Peanut for me :)
Dec. 10, 2010 4:58 am
These are great!! I love anything coconut!!
Dec. 10, 2010 5:50 am
YES, LOVE the coconut M&M's!
Dec. 10, 2010 7:22 am
Glad you finally found Coconut M&M's! To me they were just ok, I was so happy when I saw them at the store because I LOVE anything with coconut, but there is not much coconut flavor. My favorite is still Peanut M&M's.
Dec. 10, 2010 5:58 pm
I didn't care for the pretzel or coconut ones personally. I actually haven't liked any diverse flavors besides the ones with peanuts! They sell them all over the place here in South Carolina.
Dec. 10, 2010 7:43 pm
First of all, I LOVE the Colors! Wow:0 second, coconut and chocolate? what is NOT to love? Have not seen them but now I will look for them AAWWW! Thanks MSC.
Dec. 10, 2010 8:44 pm
Patty, we live fairly close to one another, so I am thinking they should at least be in your Target near the checkout like they were in mine. I like the mix of colors too. Let me know what you think of them. Worst case, I will send you some if you want!
Dec. 11, 2010 3:37 am
Dear MSC, can't say I've tried these but like you said, u can find them at Target stores at the check lanes, i work at Target here and i know they don't last very long! I've tried the pretzels and liked them alot. My sons and I have made choc.coated pretzel b/4, these reminded me of that. On another note, I love ur pics! I too live near the ocean! I also love ur new blender! I like the style, color, and never thought touse my blender for making pie crust! I just made magic layr cookie bars the other day and spent about 1/2 hour crushing by hand w/rolling pin. Wish I had read ur blog sooner, could of saved myself some time! Oh well, thanks for the tips and love ur "Creations" UR very talented!:>)
Dec. 11, 2010 8:32 am
Thanks Anna for all of your kinds words. The blender and mixer I have are Kitchen Aid from the Martha Stewart Aqua Collection. I will make sure I get more coconut M&M's next time I go, love them! I also have a blog on blogspot and a YouTube Channel. Here are the links to those:

I LOVE Coconut m&m's! yum-O!
Dec. 15, 2010 6:04 am
I've tried the coconut M&Ms and don't like them very much. I do like them better than plain M&Ms though (the plain ones are what I call "wasted calories" and I will not eat them, preferring to save my calories for something tastier that day). My husband likes them "even though they have a yucky coconut flavor". So, it's a toss-up for how opinions will run on these I guess :=)
Dec. 15, 2010 6:27 am
I discovered Coconut M&Ms at a newspaper stand in NYC and couldn't find them anywhere else - until I was at the Hudson News store in the Miami Airport. I love regular M&Ms and I love coconut - the coconut flavor is light - and I love them in all of their deliciousness (not as much as PB M&Ms though).
Dec. 15, 2010 7:24 am
Like so many others before me, I love anything coconut. I didn't know they existed. Now that I know, I'm going out shopping from store to store this afternoon and try to hunt them down. Might take me a while as I live in the area of the upper midwest that was hit by the blizzard over the weekend. The snow may have torn a hole in the Metrodome, but it won't stop me from searching out the newest M&M.
Dec. 15, 2010 7:52 am
I am a self avowed coco"nut" and i was disappointed. They have an artificial tate to them. Must be all the years of shredding my own :)
Dec. 15, 2010 7:52 am
meant taste :)
Dec. 15, 2010 8:19 am
Been dying to taste the coconut although after reading some of the comments posted I now may not....tried the pretzel and they are nasty...
Dec. 15, 2010 8:40 am
I love the coconut ones!Finding them seems to be kinda random around here (Nashville) I have the best luck at either Dollar General stores or Dollar Tree! I (like most it seems) did not like the pretzel ones I REALLY liked the cherry ones but from what I can tell those were discontinued:(
Dec. 15, 2010 10:08 am
I haven't tried them, but have you read the ingredients? There's no coconut in them! I love coconut, but I don't think I'll be trying them in light of that fact...
Dec. 15, 2010 10:26 am
I, by chance, got the coconut M&M's from a vending machine at a rest area while traveling North to Chicago. Waited to share them with y co-workers th following week-end, and we all gave them a thumb's up! We loved them
Dec. 15, 2010 11:09 am
i love peanut m&ms, all the other flavors i cant stand, whats next chili pepper m&
Dec. 15, 2010 11:42 am
The coconut M&M's are my absolute favorite! But, then I love coconut. :)
Dec. 15, 2010 11:49 am
I did not find the coconut M&M's very appealing but Almond Joy pieces are very delicious. They are basically the same thing but plumper with a better tasting coconut/milk chocolate filling.
Dec. 15, 2010 11:55 am
Coconut M&Ms are good but I love Bounty bars from Canada. They rock!!
Dec. 15, 2010 12:06 pm
I didn't care much for the coconut M&Ms. They have a 'fake' coconut flavor. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE coconut and do my fair share of damage to my hips and waistline when I go to Hawaii! I'll stick to Almond Joy or Mounds.
Dec. 15, 2010 12:30 pm
Coconut M&Ms are awesome -- hope they keep them around
Dec. 15, 2010 12:55 pm
I really like the coconut M&M's, but don't care for the pretzel ones. Peanut Butter are still by far my favorite!!!!
Dec. 15, 2010 3:44 pm
Hey Lottie! I live in Sweden, and Marabou makes a chili pepper bar and it is seriously good! I was as surprised as you. :) We can usually only find peanut m&ms here, but as a coconut lover I would love to try them. Maybe in a few years. lol
Dec. 15, 2010 3:47 pm
Hey MSC, My home town is Clinton, Iowa... we were nearly neighbors! I sure miss home, but I guess mostly family, we have plenty of snow here!
Dec. 15, 2010 4:11 pm
Gitano....I grew up in Canada, so I agree about the Smarties!! I think the coconut m and ms are Ok. What really gets me in trouble are those darned candy cane kisses!!! And the cherry kisses as well DEADLY GOOD!!
Dec. 15, 2010 5:42 pm
I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove coconut m&m's

Dec. 15, 2010 5:53 pm
Checked the local Target today and they do not have the coconut M&M's. I bought some of the Pretzel M&M's and we do not like them. Our favorite is still the peanut and almond.I will continue to check in the other stores and see if I can find coconut. Thanks fo the intro to the coconut M&M's.
Dec. 15, 2010 6:48 pm
I thought the coconut M&M's were okay, but the coconut flavor was not strong enough. Fro the record, I like the preztel M&M's and the peanut butter and jelly M&M's. I judge M&M flavor by how it will stand up if mixed with other M&M's. The coconut would be too subtle a flavor...
Dec. 15, 2010 8:41 pm
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and have not seen these. I will be on the look out for them as my husband loves coconut. I am very interested in trying them.
Dec. 15, 2010 10:58 pm
I have tried and love the coconut m&m's. And I don't know if this helps those that haven't found them and want to try them, if you have a Wal-mart in your area go to the Christmas candy area they will have the seasonal selections. Even if they don't have the individual white bags of coconut ones they should have a bigger bags of them there. Also I haven't seen anybody mention these yet but in the bigger bags in the Christmas candy aisle they have cherry cordial m&m's that are IMO really good too.
Dec. 15, 2010 11:11 pm
You put the M in the coconut and you M it all up! I am unfortunate enough to be allergic to CHOCOLATE so it is very seldom that I am tempted to partake and risk the mother of all migraines(with her Aunt Migraine in attendance)but I just couldn't resist the combination, so I ate one. I wish that I hadn't, I will forever be haunted by the taste of the little devils. It was a two Fiorenal headache. Almost worth the price of admission, I should think.
Dec. 16, 2010 12:26 am
i tried them in providence when I was visiting this past spring and i was hooked. but can't find them here yet..... hopefully enough people will like them that we'll get them eventually. I was not a fan of the pretzel but i liked those weird crispy m&m's they had for a while (the texture appealed) but apparently no one else did because they are long gone now.
Dec. 16, 2010 2:22 am
Love them!!! Almost as much as the strawberry peanut butter one =)
Dec. 16, 2010 5:34 am
LOVE THEM! I don't even bother with the regular M&M's. I buy in bulk from Sam's since my girls like them too.
Dec. 16, 2010 6:15 am
Coconut M&M's ROCK!!!!! I found them over a year ago when I was in Indianapolis and it took me a long time to finally be able to get them again at home.... but I love them as does my two kids and my dad...
Dec. 16, 2010 6:19 am
I love the coconut M&M's!!! I'm from Canada, and we can't get them here. I live on the border of Ontario Can. and Michigan, so am in states a lot. My friend bought me a whole case of cocounut M&M's 'cause I love 'em so much!!!!
Dec. 16, 2010 7:23 am
The coconut M&M's are gross. They taste like suntan lotion, which is probably what's in them since they don't actually contain coconut. The pretzel M&M's are like crack though. I have no self control when I am around them. They are almost as good as my favorite - peanut butter M&M's!
Dec. 16, 2010 7:58 am
Tried the coconut M&Ms-I love coconut, but these don't have any real coconut in them. They taste artificial.
Dec. 16, 2010 8:15 am
The coconut MM's were Terrific in my brownies, some crushed by the food processor and others whole! Try it! and I used the "Pretzel MM's were GREAT in my cookie trifle, with layers in tall glass bowl, with Pistachio Pudding made, MM's/ and whipped cream. and again another layer! Actually add in what you want and coat the side of the bowl upward! Enjoy! So good "COLD" in the frig over 3 hrs.. or overnight! :)
Dec. 16, 2010 8:39 am
WHAT?!?!? There are coconut m&m's?!?!? I guess they have not found their way North yet:(
m&m lover
Dec. 16, 2010 9:24 am
Coconumt M&M's are my favorite. I found them in the store next to my office, also Kroger's. I can't get enough of them.
m&m lover
Dec. 16, 2010 9:25 am
To Mickster, I have seen them in Connecticut.
Dec. 16, 2010 10:29 am
I used coconut M&M's about 2 years ago when they first came out to make my famous 'monster cookies'. Most people loved them in the cookies, but I thought they were horrible. Artificial, chemical coconut taste says it all. The pretzel M&M's are good if you get a taste of salt. If not, it's like eating chocolate-covered sawdust. Not too bad (it's chocolate after all), but not good.
Dec. 16, 2010 10:41 am
I have seen the coconut M&M's here since this summer. I agree with the comments that they taste artifical. I absolutly adore coconut, but prefer the pretzel M&M's.
Dec. 16, 2010 10:59 am
I have never heard of them or seen them but will have to track them down now, they sound yummy.
Dec. 16, 2010 11:17 am
I love the coconut m&m's! I'm not even a fan of coconut, unless it's toasted. I hate almond joys and mounds, but I love the coconut m&m's. They have just the right ratio of coconut to chocolate to candy shell. I make a gorp for hiking that consists of coconut m&m's and wasabi soy almonds and it is heavenly!
Dec. 16, 2010 11:58 am
I love, love, love the coconut M&M's. My Walmart stocked the big bag for a while, but doesn't any longer. :(. I make the most delicious cookies with these m&m's. I use a chocolate chip recipe that has coconut in it and use the m&m's instead of chocolate chips. My grandchildren eat them up.
Dec. 16, 2010 12:19 pm
I love coconut and I love M&M's but haven't seen the Coconut M&M's. I'm going to have to go look for them. Can't wait to try them!!
Dec. 16, 2010 12:22 pm
thats cool i like the pretzel ones more cuz i dont like coconut that much love & music
Dec. 16, 2010 1:03 pm
The makers of M&M candies import cacao from companies that use children as slave labor. I will not buy any of their products until they stop.
Dec. 16, 2010 1:11 pm
hey whats up. i wanna know some good recipes. and pretzel m&m's are better.

Dec. 16, 2010 6:08 pm
Oh I love the coconut M&Ms and the mint ones that are out now!!!!
Dec. 16, 2010 7:48 pm
It is interesting to me that there is no coconut on the ingredient list for "coconut" M&Ms! I was excited to see this flavor hit the shelves--until I read the label...
Dec. 16, 2010 8:09 pm
I tried the Coconut M&M's in the Spring, they were ok, but the pretzel variety are my new favorite (formerly peanut butter). I love the salty/sweet combination. Unfortunately, they are stopping production of the Pretzel M&M's in 2011 and will begin producing the Crispy M&M's again (per the owner of a local candy store in my area).
Dec. 16, 2010 9:11 pm
I actually didn't enjoy these, the coconut in them was too strong for me. And i'm not a big fan of coconut and chocolate together to being with, pretty much if you don't like the mounds or almond joy bars these will not be an enjoyable candy for you
Jan. 12, 2011 10:04 am
I finally got a bag of these and was so excited to try them--I love coconut. I was totally shocked that they had NO pieces of coconut in them. How disappointing! The flavor is so light that after a couple bites they just tasted like plain M&Ms to me, and I'm not a big fan of plain. I would choose the pretzel ones any day over these. I'm all for the crispy ones coming back again--I hope that's true.
