Shopping Trip to Bed, Bath, and Beyond

I haven't been inside a Bed, Bath, and Beyond in a couple of years. Today, I was on a mission as I found out that they carry the Aerolatte milk frothers in their stores. I forgot how cool Bed, Bath, and Beyond is and I was amazed by all of the kitchen gadgets and contraptions.

I took some photos (and my four year old daughter took some of them too) of neat gadgets we found in the store.

First up is the Aerolatte. I have to thank Sarah "Baker Bee" for informing me about it. I ended up purchasing one at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $19.99 and I used it tonight with great results.

How about a batter dispenser....anyone? It looks pretty handy, but I will probably save my $14.99 for something else although I like how you can control the amount of batter that comes out and it would be great for filling cupcake pans or dispensing pancake batter.

I also saw a contraption called a cupcake plunger. It removes the center of your baked cupcake so you can pipe in a filling. I have been using my apple corer. The cupcake plunger has a larger diameter than the apple corer, but I will probably stick with my apple corer for now.

I also saw the pie crust shields which were brought up the other day on the recipe buzz. I think the set pictured below comes with 5 silicone pieces which can be arranged over your pie crust to protect it from browning. What a genius idea! Has anyone used these? What do you think of them?

Finally, next to the pie crust shields was a whipped cream container like that type Starbucks uses to pipe fresh whipped cream onto their drinks. I really liked this until I sae the $49.95 price sticker. Yikes.....that is a little steep, don't you think?

Anyways, I only ended up purchaning the Aerolatte, but I thought I would share some of the things I came across today.

We have a BB&B nearby and we spend considerable time exploring the gadgets. My wife looks for the baking/decorating stuff and I look for the other. We, also, have a place 24 miles away that we wil spend hours in when we can get there. It is the most comlete kitchen shop I have ever been to.

I love milk frothers :) They are SO hard to find in Turkey. I found one in a 1 euro shop when I was travelling and I use it all the time. Sounds like a great shop

I love the milk frothers also. BF's son gave me one a couple years ago. I recently came across them at IKEA for under $5! Possibly as low as $1.99 but don't quote me on that. I'm a BB&B shopper myself and it's easy to spend hours wandering around in there looking at the cooking devices.

I have a metal crust guard but it doesn't fit around the circumference of my pie shell, too small, so have never used it. I still use aluminum foil.

Goldens, the nice thing about the silicone pie crust shields is that you can bend them or manipulate them to fit your pie unlike the metal ones.

I've never seen before a silicone pie crust shield, what a great idea! I love Bed Bath & Beyond, I will definitely have to get one of these before the holidays. Thanks for sharing!

MSC: Sounds like a wonderful shopping trip. I could browse through kitchen items for hours. I had also read Sarah Baker Bee's suggestion about the Aerolatte, and I've been waiting for an out-of-town trip. Glad to hear that you are enjoying it also. I know it's rather expensive, but I have a whipped cream dispenser by ISI that uses CO2 cartridges. Love it!

Where do you purchase replacement cartridges? How long does the whipped cream last in the dispenser?

I thought you might like this recipe, just wanted to share with you: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pesto-Grilled-Cheese-Sandwich/Detail.aspx. I made Dianne's pesto recipe to use on this sandwich and I found a Panera Bread not too far from our area (it reminded me of you right away when I saw it). The bread is wonderful, next time I will get an extra loaf to keep in the freezer. Thanks!

About Me
I am a Southern California wife and mother of one. I am a simple person that enjoys home decor, baking, and spending time with my family. You can also find me on YouTube - House of Aqua: http://www.youtube.com/user/HouseOfAqua/videos?sort=dd&flow=list&page=1&view=0
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making a variety of ice cream, cookies, cakes, and candies. In recent years I have branched out by making new dinner recipes and found that I enjoy the challenge.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a daughter that loves to help me bake. We spend Christmas Eve in the kitchen making special cookies for Santa together.
My cooking triumphs
I consider tempering chocolate and making caramels a triumph. You either get it right or your wrong!
My cooking tragedies
I failed several times at trying to make fondant centers for truffles. I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while!
