I recently threw a birthday party for my daughter's 4th birthday. The color theme was pink and brown. I was exhausted by the time the party started as it took me three days ahead of time to prepare. Several batches of buttercream later, the party was ready and the guests began to arrive. MORE

Toasted Ciabatta Bread with Basil Pesto This makes a great snack, appetizer, or a side dish with pasta. It is very simple to make. There is a restaurant in my neighborhood called Tender Greens and they make something similar, although they grill their bread which is also a great alternative to… MORE

I finally found the perfect cookie recipe. I am partial to the Felix K. chocolate chip cookie recipe on here. I don't know about you, but I can only eat a couple of cookie before they start becoming stale and I end up tossing the rest of the cookies. Several months ago, I began to only… MORE

During my last trip to the commissary, I found a box of Fudge Mint Oreos. Each year during the holiday season, they come out with these delicious treats! I already had a bag of Hershey's mint chocolate chips in my buggy that I wasn't sure what I was going to do with, and I was about to put a… MORE

I was purchasing some Godiva hot chocolate for my exchange giftee (lisaj) when I saw chocolate spoons at the store. I thought it was a great idea to give with hot chocolate and I knew I could make some at home that were better than the ones in the… MORE

My favorite smoothies are simple and smooth. I came up with the "Simple Strawberry Smoothie" after playing around with ingredients and other recipes for a few years. Although I list apple juice in this recipe, I have used peach juice and grape juice and they are all equally delicious. You don't… MORE

Recently, after seeing a photo of someone who made hot fudge sauce, I thought I would give it a try. I never thought to make this before! I decided to try Sue's Hot Fudge Sauce from this site.   I made the recipe as written and it was good, but after a few bites, I found it tasted very… MORE

About Me
I am a Southern California wife and mother of one. I am a simple person that enjoys home decor, baking, and spending time with my family. You can also find me on YouTube - House of Aqua: http://www.youtube.com/user/HouseOfAqua/videos?sort=dd&flow=list&page=1&view=0
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making a variety of ice cream, cookies, cakes, and candies. In recent years I have branched out by making new dinner recipes and found that I enjoy the challenge.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a daughter that loves to help me bake. We spend Christmas Eve in the kitchen making special cookies for Santa together.
My cooking triumphs
I consider tempering chocolate and making caramels a triumph. You either get it right or your wrong!
My cooking tragedies
I failed several times at trying to make fondant centers for truffles. I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while!
