If you haven't noticed by now some stores are receiving their fall and Halloween candy. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I can't resist warm apple crisp served with vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce dizzled on top or hot apple cider or fresh baked pumpkin bread with milk chocolate… MORE

I highly recommend the Smooth and Creamy Peanut Butter Pie from this site. I discovered it last fall and I have made it several times. The last time I made it was for Thanksgiving, along with a pumpkin pie! It has a very smooth, creamy, and rich taste. A sweet tooth or a love of peanut… MORE

I volunteered to bring the sweets to a Fourth of July backyard barbeque/swim party. I recently found a small, locally owned cake specialty store in San Diego called, "Do It With Icing." While browsing their large selection of unique cookie cutters, I came across one shaped like the United… MORE

How I made homemade peanut butter cups:   1) Melt milk chocolate and using a paint brush, paint the chocolate in the bottom and up the sides of the cup and allow to dry.   2) Once the cup is dry, make peanut butter mixture. I have tried many, but I highly prefer  the… MORE

On Monday night, I watched a show called Cake Boss on TLC. They were making a white cake with a chocolate ganache and fresh strawberry filling. They iced the cake with buttercream and covered it with fondant. The show inspired me to try fondant for the first time and I also wanted to make the… MORE

Do not forget to add your baking soda and baking powder! I turned an elegant and light tasting cake into dense brownies today. I made the Dark Chocolate I recipe from this site previously and I think it is a fabulous cake. I haven't made it in many months so I decided to make it today. When… MORE

I am making preparations for a May 2nd baby shower I am throwing for a friend at my home. Like my daughter's birthday, which I blogged about, I ordered custom invitations and water bottle labels. My friend is expecting her third child and does not know the sex of the baby, so we decided to… MORE

I tried to make jumbo cupcakes this weekend and I even purchased the Wilton jumbo cake papers. I didn't have a jumbo pan, but for some reason I thought I could just set the papers on a baking sheet, pour the batter in and bake! Very wrong! They overran into each other and it was a mess.… MORE

I have made this strawberry cake several times. I can't recall the recipe off hand, but it is a white cake mix with a box of Jello added to it. I always frost the cake with chocolate icing. My dilemma is that I am making this cake for my husband to take to work tomorrow and … MORE

About Me
I am a Southern California wife and mother of one. I am a simple person that enjoys home decor, baking, and spending time with my family. You can also find me on YouTube - House of Aqua: http://www.youtube.com/user/HouseOfAqua/videos?sort=dd&flow=list&page=1&view=0
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making a variety of ice cream, cookies, cakes, and candies. In recent years I have branched out by making new dinner recipes and found that I enjoy the challenge.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a daughter that loves to help me bake. We spend Christmas Eve in the kitchen making special cookies for Santa together.
My cooking triumphs
I consider tempering chocolate and making caramels a triumph. You either get it right or your wrong!
My cooking tragedies
I failed several times at trying to make fondant centers for truffles. I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while!
