Girl Scout Cookies are in! I haven't had any in several years but as I was shopping at the Marine Corps Exchange over the weekend, sweet little Girl Scouts were outside selling their cookies and I couldn't resist the Thin Mints.   I only bought one box of Thin Mints and one box of… MORE

Ever since I made the Mud Pie II from this website, I have been longing to make more difficult and from scratch sweets. I decided to break out my Candymaking book. I bought this nearly two years ago but I wasn't quite ready this level yet and I didn't even own a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer either. MORE

I am watching Amazing Cakes on TLC as I type. I am learned a lot from watching the bakers create these amazing cakes.   1.) Make a stiffer buttercream by using more powdered sugar to pipe around the egde of the cake and fill in with regular buttercream. The stiffer buttercream will help… MORE

I decided to make some Pumpkin Spice Truffles the other day after browsing through all of the truffle recipes on AllRecipes. Most of them are either cream cheese based or ganache based. I decided to try a ganache based truffle.   I whipped up my ganache using Ghiradelli Bittersweet… MORE

I haven't been inside a Bed, Bath, and Beyond in a couple of years. Today, I was on a mission as I found out that they carry the Aerolatte milk frothers in their stores. I forgot how cool Bed, Bath, and Beyond is and I was amazed by all of the kitchen gadgets and contraptions.   I took… MORE

While browsing our local cake and candy making specialty store the other day, I found myself eyeing the bags of crisp rice again. They are in the chocolate and candy making section of the store. The crisp rice is exactly what you find inside a bar of Nestle Crunch. The bag was only $2.99 so I… MORE

About Me
I am a Southern California wife and mother of one. I am a simple person that enjoys home decor, baking, and spending time with my family. You can also find me on YouTube - House of Aqua: http://www.youtube.com/user/HouseOfAqua/videos?sort=dd&flow=list&page=1&view=0
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making a variety of ice cream, cookies, cakes, and candies. In recent years I have branched out by making new dinner recipes and found that I enjoy the challenge.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a daughter that loves to help me bake. We spend Christmas Eve in the kitchen making special cookies for Santa together.
My cooking triumphs
I consider tempering chocolate and making caramels a triumph. You either get it right or your wrong!
My cooking tragedies
I failed several times at trying to make fondant centers for truffles. I decided to put my candymaking book away for a while!
