About this Cook
PLEASE CHECK OUT MY FOOD BLOG! http://foodbylauren.blogspot.com I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I started cooking more and more on my own about 3 years ago. I grew up watching my Mom cook and bake and sometimes helping her with the recipes. So, I owe a lot of my cooking insights/methods to her, as well as recipes and cooking basics that were passed down to her.
My favorite things to cook
Stir-fry, and lots of Asian cooking styles (Chinese and Thai are my favorites) I also love a good casserole. One of my other favorite things to cook is Melissa D'Arabian from the Food Network's Flexible 4-Step Chicken (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/flexible-4-step-chicken-for-family-and-company--rustic-lemon-onion-chicken-recipe/index.html). It always turns out delicious. I also love to bake. My favorite thing I've baked so far is the Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies from this site. Really, I love anything and everything baking... cookies, bars, cakes, cupcakes, you name it. The only thing I haven't tackled is pie!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies during the holidays. Taco dinners were always my favorite growing up.
My cooking triumphs
I can't think of anything specific, but my cooking ability now, as compared with a few years ago, is quite a triumph in itself!
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make peanut butter bars once that basically turned into a pan of disgusting sludge and oil. I also hate when cookies don't turn out right. No other big tragedies yet, but I'm sure there will be more to come.

Easy Pancakes
I've used this recipe a few times with great results-- fluffy, light pancakes! It's a great base for all sorts of add-ins... fruit, nuts, chocolate chips... you name it!

Cream of Fresh Asparagus Soup I
This soup is SO good. I did not have dill weed or white pepper (used black instead) but it was still delicious without them. It's really good with a squeeze of lemon juice right before serving.
