I'm a young mom whose favorite way to relax is in the kitchen. NOT DOING DISHES THOUGH! Opening up a bottle of wine and going to town in kitchen is a good way to spend the evening. Also, I love knitting and dogs. My family owned an Italian restaurant for 35 years + and I think I get some of love of cooking from that side of my family.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta, sauces, meat and potatoes, anything new that would make family and friends happy. I often only make dishes one time because there are too many other good things to try!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I think I already mentioned, opening a bottle of wine! Let's add talking and munching to that one. Whether it is with my mom or husband, cooking is a fun, family thing to do.
My cooking triumphs
It wasn't too difficult, but I am proud of the sushi I made for a friend. I hate sushi and couldn't even bring myself to taste it before I served it at her shower, but everyone raved about it and I breathed a sigh of relief! It is hard to serve something if you don't know if it tastes okay!
My cooking tragedies
The butternut squash soup I tried to make for the very first time. It turned out to be the most awful and disgusting thing I have ever made or tasted. My poor husband. I laughed about it and got us some Chinese. Our dog didn't even care for it! Now I am a master butternut squash soup maker!

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars
doubled recipe - In place of 2 sticks of butter I used: 1 stick of butter and 1/4 cup of appleasauce and 1 egg. (as another reviewer suggested). Used whole wheat flour instead of all purpose and "All Fruit - Polaners" raspberry (which doesn't have sugar) Was DELICIOUS. I love JUNK food and even with my healthier modifications, this still hit my sweet tooth spot. The mom's group I made them for loved them too! My 3 year old gobbled them up. I ate 7 large squares in one morning. eeek! so good. gonna go eat another one.

Baked Zucchini Chips
I use the jumbo zucchini from my garden. I sprinkle (okay completely cover) the breaded zucchini with mozzerella cheese at the end of the cooking and serve over paste with marinara sauce. This is the perfect sub to chicken or eggplant parmesan. :)
