Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
Awesome recipe!! I've never been able to make good iced tea, though I've lived in southern Virginia most of my life, so this is a great day! Smooth and perfectly sweetened tea ... made by me. :P The baking soda, as so many others have agreed, did the trick on the bitterness. I doubled the recipe and used four family-sized tea bags. Since I didn't have a glass pitcher, I used my trusty Rubbermaid one, filling it to the spout with cold water after the sugar dissolved (about eleven cups). I will definitely use this recipe on a regular basis. Thank you!

Robbi's M&M Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
I made these for my husband, and he loved them! The only thing I changed was to use 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup butter-flavored shortening (instead of a full cup of shortening), as other reviewers had suggested. They're a bit too salty for my taste, but I only had unsalted butter, so I added 1/3 tsp salt. I won't do that again, but I will use this recipe again!

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
Great frosting recipe! The only change I made was to use butter-flavored shortening instead of regular. I split the frosting into two and colored one red (which took a whole tub of gel!!) and one blue, for our family's July 4th celebration. The recipe made more than enough to decorate a strawberry sheet cake with about 25 blue stars and about 13 stripes (not exact, I know! ;), as well as about 50 Mama's Sugar Cookies! Plus, we had some left over. I'll definitely be using this one again. :)

Ma Ma's Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
This is an excellent recipe! My three-year-old son helped and loved every second of it! We followed the instructions exactly as written, except instead of rolling the dough out, I took out portions and let him help roll them into balls on sugar-coated parchment. After we put them on the cookie sheets, he helped me press them with a sugar-coated glass bottom. We decorated them for our family's July 4th celebration with Sugar Cookie Frosting colored red and blue. They were soft and perfectly crispy around the edges. Thanks!! We'll be using this one again!

Best White Icing Ever

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
I halved the recipe, since I only wanted to ice a strawberry sheet cake, and used 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter, as other reviewers have suggested. I only had unsalted butter, so I added about 1/3 tsp salt, which cut the sweetness a little, also. It turned out very smooth with a sweet, but not-too-sweet, taste!
