Brussels Sprouts in a Sherry Bacon Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2014
Super tasty- however, as others have mentioned, drain off the majority of bacon grease before adding shallot (or in my case onion) and garlic. Otherwise, very good.

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
This was fantastic! I did not have any sesame oil, but I did have fresh (frozen) ginger root, and I think that it made up the flavor difference. I also used ground turkey, and it was lean and tasty! I will make this a favorite!

Chicken Enchilada Slow Cooker Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2013
This was really tasty. I followed the ingredients exactly and the only thing I changed was cooking (time crunch) which meant I cooked on high for 3 hours and then switched to low for another hour or so after that. It tasted even better the day after, and for two people this was dinner for 4 days! Thanks for sharing!

Vegetable Medley

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2013
I made this with all the veggies and cook times and I was really looking forward to it, but it was so bland that I could barely finish it off. Not sure what to do to give this more flavor... but I won't be making this version again.

My Favorite Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2012
I made this recipe for Christmas dinner and I really liked it. I will say, however, that I wish it had been creamier even though I made this specifically because it didn't use cream of mushroom soup. I think that I will omit the flour and add perhaps a cup of vegetable broth (or less) to the sour cream to add some creamy-ness. I don't think the flour added anything useful for me (I omitted the mushrooms, so perhaps the lack of liquid from them makes a difference with the flour). Used fresh, steamed beans and felt that this was very healthy. Thankyou for sharing!

Swedish Meatballs (Svenska Kottbullar)

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2012
I just made this last night and while the flavor was excellent I found that the meat balls were really soupy prior to baking them. I had to add three more pieces of bread just to make them stay in a ball shape. Next time I make this I'll decrease the cream and increase the bread- that's the only reason I give this 4 stars.

Brooklyn Girl's Penne Arrabiata

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2012
This was really good and the only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that it wasn't phenomenal. A good dish for garlic lovers and if you end up with left overs it tastes even better the next day. I did not add the cooked chicken to the sauce as the recipe said to do because I worried about it becoming soggy with the breading, but I think I should have. I"ll make it again to try it just as the recipe states.

Pork Tenderloin with Dijon Marsala Sauce

Reviewed: May 3, 2012
Really great and simple meal that looks super fancy. I was afraid that browning the pork tenderloin medallions would dry them out after baking, but they stayed tender and juicy! Sauce is amazing! A simple meal for entertaining (I added roasted asparagus and mashed potatoes) and fairly easy to make.

Kielbasa with Brussels Sprouts in Mustard Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2012
Very tasty dish. I was not sure how this would turn out, because it is a different mix of foods, but I took the adice of other reviewers and doubled the sauce. I also coated the brussels sprouts in oil, salt and pepper and roasted them at 500 degrees for about 15 minutes before adding them in. This meal tasted even better the next day for leftovers!

Garlic Broccoli

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2012
Yes! Finally a great way to serve broccoli! I always steam the broccoli until just tender before placing it in the marinade. This keeps the broccoli crisp but soft enough to eat without working real hard at it.

Broccoli Fish Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2012
Surprisingly good, but not eye-popping (hence the 4 star rating). I used fresh broccoli and Swai fish fillets. Simple and quick, this is a good meal when short on time.

Blue Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2012
I made these for a baby shower, and they were a hit! I couldn't find large mushrooms in the store so I used normal ones, and I had waayyy too much filling left over. Not a bad thing, really, as I just used the leftover filling to stuff some pork chops with! Great appetizer, just fancy enough to be impressive in any crowd.

Butternut Squash Bisque

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
Great flavor to this soup. It is time intensive, and in the future I will probably skip the last step of saute-ing the last cup of squash. It was definitely sweeter than I expected, but it makes for a tasty treat on a cold day.

Mile High Green Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
This was fun to make and so tasty! I must have found some mild chiles, because there was no heat at all to this dish- but that didn't detract from the flavor. I agree with other reviewers: next time I'll skip the cream cheese at the end, as that may have contributed to the 'coolness' of the dish. Thanks for sharing!

White Wine Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
This is so good! I followed the ingredients and directions closely, but I added garlic, sliced yellow squash, and fresh rosemary and waited an hour before adding the potatoes so they wouldn't turn to mush. I also used smoked chicken breast that I had left over from a cookout- yum! This will be a great winter meal.

Olive-Cheese Zucchini Boats

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2011
I really wanted to like this recipe, but it came out so bland. I thought the saltiness of the olives would lend some flavor- but there was something lacking. I'd try adding some more savory ingredients, or maybe some herbs. Perhaps if made with greek olives, add some feta cheese, fennel, and topped with parmigian cheese this would be more interesting... The hunt for tasty zucchini boats continues...

Cheesy Zucchini Casserole I

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2011
This was better than I thought it would be. I added a few extra ingredients- can of diced tomatoes and some chopped green olives. I forgot the egg, but I don't know that it mattered. I think adding ground turkey or pork would turn this into a tasty entree.

Belle and Chron's Spinach and Mushroom Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
Really good, one of the better quiche recipes I've found on this website. I added some sauteed, chopped onions, and I didn't have any cheddar cheese on hand, but this is still excellent. The nutmeg brings out great flavor in the custard. Just a note: I followed this recipe exactly except for adding the onions, and it was very VERY full when I poured it into the crust, but it cooked down really well. Thanks for sharing!

Magical Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
I've pretty much stopped buying salad dressing, because I use this recipe exclusively. I leave out the lemon pepper- there's already lemon juice- and I throw in a pinch of red pepper flakes for a small zip. I've also tried it with a hint of garlic, but either way, the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, and lemon juice are all you need for the best dressing. Thanks for sharing, Laura!
