It has been awhile since my last entry but I am inspired to make a small entry.

We have a local "bargain store".  This fantastic place offers items of all kinds at a reduced price.  They also sell something called a "$25 food box".  This fantastic thing is actually a banana box full of dry goods, a rectangular milk crate full of regrigerated goods and then some.  The "then some" constists of tons of produce, 3 bags of bread and 3 pastry items.

I heard about this from a friend and thought it was supposed to be for low income families but apparently this wonderful thing is for anyone who wants it!  I went down there and got mine and couldn't believe how much food I got for $25.  Now mind you, I wasn't able to chose what I took home, it is more like a mystery box of food but that is where the fun began!

I spent ages unpacking the food and figuring out where to put it all.  Then I had to figure out what to make with it all!  That is when I went looking for recipes on this site.  And so the fun begins!!!!

About Me
I love cooking and baking. I especially love the thrill of finding something new to try. I like to try new "culinary recipes" as opposed to new "cooking recipes". But on the other end of the spectrum, I enjoy finding new recipes that are inexpensive. I like to find a recipe that works with whatever meat is on sale on the front of the local grocery flyer.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking Indian food mainly because I love eating it! I also enjoy baking, again because I love eating baked goods!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mother always made Indian food and I guess I am carrying on that tradition. We are not Indian.
My cooking triumphs
Creme brulee, slow cooker carnitas, dal makhani.
My cooking tragedies
I got a cookbook from the library on Southern Cooking. I tried three recipes and they were all horrible! My family brings it up often. I don't think they used a test kitchen when writing that cookbook!
