Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
This was an excellent apple pie. I used the Pilsbury Roll Out Crust. I did add 2 Tbs flour, 1/2 tsp of nutmeg and 2 tsp cinnamon to the apples. I added 1 tsp cinnamon to the liquid at the end of cooking it on the stove. Then I mixed half the liquid with the apples and brushed the other half on top of the lattace crust. It will definately be the only apple pie recipe that I use now. So easy and tastes great! Update: I have made this so many times. This last time I brushed the crust with egg white before filling. The crust held up better. It was so good. Lots of compliments. Use with French pie crust recipe on this site.

Yogurt Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
These cookies are ok. I didn't have plain yogurt, so I used vanilla. I cut the vanilla to 1 tsp, since the flavor was in the yogurt. I also cut the chips to 1/4 cup and added 1/2 cup M&Ms. I also cut the flour to 1 1/2 cups b/c others said it was cake like and I like my cookies crisper. There was plenty of chocolate in each cookie. The cookies just came out of the oven. They took a very long time to cook and get brown, about 20 minutes. They are very soft. I am glad I cut the flour. The taste is good, but not the best I ever had. Maybe they will be better the second day.

Thai-Style Peanut Sauce with Honey

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
This sauce was ok. I made it b/c it didn't use coconut milk like most of the other recipes. I have a better recipe for peanut sauce that I will use next time.

Chicken Satay

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
This was good. I did follow other's suggestions. I doubled the peanut butter. I didn't have chunky, so I put 1/4 cup + 1 Tbs Skippy low fat creamy peanut butter. I also cut the curry to 1 1/2 Tbs. I think I will use the full 2 Tbs next time. I would make it again, but would definately marinade longer than 2 hours. I also made 1/2 chicken and 1/2 beef (top round steaks cut into strips). My family liked the beef better. My picky four year old loved the "beef on a stick".

Robbi's M&M Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
These were good. Just like the Toll House recipe, but it has 1 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup white sugar, instead of 3/4 of each. They were good, but not the best I ever had.

Oven Roasted Greek Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
This recipe was very good. I didn't cook the potatoes long enough, but that was my fault. I will definately make it again. I didn't have lemon pepper, so I added a little extra lemon. It was really good anyway.

Souvlaki

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
This was a big hit. I didn't have time to marinade the meat for very long. I will do so next time. I was a little nervous with the soy sauce, but this dish was great. I served it with Oven Roasted Greek Potatoes and Greek Green Beans from this site. Also some store bought pita bread. Dinner was great. Thanks for the recipe!

Yia Yia's Tzatziki Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
Very bland. It needed something. I added some cumin and black pepper. I also added extra garlic. I didn't have dill, but I will try to add that next time. It just tasted like plain yogurt and sour cream. I was disappointed after the other glowing reviews. I cut the recipe in half and it still made a lot. I will try it again, but quartered and add a little extra spice.

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
This is a five star if you add 1/2 tsp of red pepper. It needed a little kick to it. My husband added a little extra red pepper to his plate. My picky four year old asked if I could make it again. Great recipe. Thanks.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
These muffins were good. I wouldn't say to die for. The only change I made was I used brown sugar instead of white for the topping. I think I will try some other recipes.

Stuffed Strawberries

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
These were very good. I made them to bring to a party. It agree with other reviewers, a pastry tip would have made it easier to fill. I used a plastic bag with an end cut off. I topped them off with milk chocolate. I put that in a small plastic bag too and drizzled it over the top. They look like it took me a long time to make, but it was a quick and easy dessert. YUM!
