Mom's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
Way too much cloves and I only used 1/2 of what was recommended. Our lips were numb and the heartburn was intense. However, if you like cloves, you'll love the pie. It did also have the perfect consistancy, just way too much spice for my husband and I.

Best Chicken Salad Ever I

I used mayo and miracle whip as the dressing and this was a fantastic meal!!! I have a feeling I'm always going to keep a bowl of this stuff in my fridge....it's that good!

Dreamy Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
OH MY GOD!!! At first I thought this was going to turn out grossly sweet....marshmallow creme and whipped topping together? But the cream cheese really puts a tang into it and I just literally ate my weight in fruit with this dip! This is now going to become by stand - by dish for potlucks and parties....thank you! Oh, I didn't add butter either but I will next time.

Italian Sausage and Peppers with Penne

Very, very good! The only changes I made were to add mushrooms. You definetly want fresh parmesean to sprinkle over the pasta too.

Chocolate Pudding Cake IV

I made the mistake of trying to alter the ingredients per other reviewer's remarks. It came out too dry. Next time I will follow the recipe as it's written instead.

Herb Roasted Chicken and Vegetables

very good.....I cut the veggies into smaller pieces to help them cook faster, but otherwise followed the instructions exactly. Next time I will add another cream soup to make more gravy.

Slow Cooker Barbeque

Ver good, but for some reason the next day leftovers were not very tasty. Definetly better fresh and right out of the crockpot.

Baked Potato Soup

this was good, but a little too much onion. Next time I will use 1/4 of an onion and onion powder. Otherwise the flavor was delish!

Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Maybe just a little TOO flavorful for my taste, but not bad. I think I'll just stick to honey or brown sugar when I glaze my carrots.

Easy Deviled Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Very yummy....I will definetly make again. I did season the chicken with paprika (because when I think of deviled ANYTHING I think of paprika) but other than that I followed the recipe exactly as it's written. Very good and the husband liked it too!

Baked Lemon Chicken

This was pretty good, but a little too mushy of a coating (even though I put it in the broiler for the last 5 min of cooking time). The taste was nice though.

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
***note*** I did NOT use the sauce portion of this recipe (quite frankly, I was feeling lazy) so I just used 2 bottles of BBQ sauce. After the ribs were done in the slow cooker I threw them in a 350 degree oven to harden the glaze on them. The ribs were fabulous and every one loved them!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
I did not have any shortening so I just melted a bag of Giradhelli's milk chocolate chips in the microwave. I inserted a toothpick thru the top of the strawberry and dipped them in the chocolate. I put them in the freezer for a few minutes after dipping to set the chocolate and they came out beautifully!

Slow Cooker Oatmeal

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
I love how this turned out! I added 2 cups of water and 2 cups of low fat milk to 1 cup of Quaker oats. I then chopped up some green apples, threw in some raisins and added a tsp of cinnamon. I cooked it in the crockpot overnight on the low setting and in the morning I threw in 1/4 cup brown sugar, bananas and some honey. Yum!!! There was some burnt oatmeal on the sides but nothing was crispy or bad tasting.

Cake Mix Cookies VIII

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
I like this recipe because you can do so many versions of it. I read the other reviews regarding the use of 2 tbs oil and 1 tsp vanilla extract and decided to trust them and add the ingredients. The cookies came out very moist and I will try to do another batch w/o oil to see if it firms the cookies up. They were delicious and I am going to make some red velvet cookies with white chocolate chips for Valentine's Day.

Aunt Jewel's Chicken Dressing Casserole

This was quite good. I only have 3 people in my family so I used 1 lb of chicken and 1 box of Stove Top stuffing (chicken flavor). My husband who normally doesn't like anything new said it was good.

Classic Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
Although the recipe calls for sharp cheddar I used Tillamook medium cheddar the first time I made it and it turned out great. I used sharp cheddar the second time and it seemed a bit more grainy in texture. The key is to not add too much butter or else it will get oily. Also, be liberal with salt, pepper, or any spices you are going to use. This is a large, dense dish and needs a little more to flavor it. I love sprinkling in some hot sauce or Tabasco to add some kick. Overall, very good recipe.

Southern Chicken Fried Steak

I would not normally make this, but my husband loves chicken fried steak and asked me to make it. The recipe was easy to follow and the meat came out nicely. My 5 year old ate it and my husband seemed pretty pleased, although "it's still not like mom's" grrrrrr....

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
The first time I made this I didn't add enough liquid, so this time I used 2 cans of beef broth as per another users suggestion. I like to reserve the juices as an au jous type dip, and even my picky little 5 year old ate it. Will definetly keep in the recipe box.
