Slow Cooker Pinto Bean Bonanza

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2015
I really liked this dish. The flavors are so interesting and balanced. I followed the recipe except I didn't have ranch-style beans, so I left them out and sprinkled a little chili powder in the pot instead. Very good, everyone in my family liked it.

Awesome Easy Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2015
I followed this recipe and my sauce would not thicken. I did use heavy cream. I also added the peas to the pasta water, or they would not have been cooked. It was flavorful - how could it not be with heavy cream, Parmesan, and bacon - but I don't think I'll make it again.

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2015
This was good, but for some reason my onions didn't get done enough. Weird. I thought it was tasty, but nothing to write home about. I followed the recipe (except used the homemade cream of anything mix from this site for the canned soup). I also used a pound of fresh mushrooms.

Chef John's Monte Cristo Benedict

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2015
I have made this twice, testing it before I serve it at a brunch for 50. The first time I made it as written but without the allspice. I thought the savory overpowered the sweet. I guess I am looking for more of a monte cristo and less of a eggs benedict. The second time I made it (again without the allspice and added a sprinkle of sugar to the batter) but didn't serve the poached eggs. Instead I drizzled it with maple syrup. The salty/sweet combo is perfect that way. That is what I'll be serving at the big brunch!

Condensed Soup Mix

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2014
I left out the thyme and basil so that it would be more versatile. Although this was good, it was still pretty salty. Next time I will reduce the chicken bouillon powder.

Slow Cooker Borscht

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2014
Although I didn't use a slow cooker, I used all of the ingredients and amounts (a little more broth though). This was fantastic!

Slow Cooker Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2014
I followed the recommendations of janet7th. This was fine, but not one that I would make again. I did not use the meat tenderizer and although the pork chops didn't need a knife, they were dry. If you don't want to use meat tenderizer, you may want to skip this recipe because I think that is the only thing that can save the pork chops.

Chicken Parmigiana

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2014
Good. It totally depends on the sauce you use, but this one is a keeper. I used flour/egg/seasoned breadcrumbs for the dredge, with shredded parmesan in the breadcrumbs.

Savory Sausage Toad-in-the-Hole

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2014
The whole family loved this. I did add more seasonings, like garlic powder and pepper. Didn't have savory, so used a little sage too. Older son is already planning on making it in a dutch oven at the next scout camping trip.

Pear Honey

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2014
My pears just wouldn't completely dissolve, so the syrup has a slightly overcooked taste. I ended up straining out the bits. I wish I had given up on completely dissolving them a little earlier.

Slow Cooker Green Beans, Ham and Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2014
Yummy! 6 hours in the crockpot worked for me, the beans and potatoes were done, and not mushy. I thickened up some of the cooking liquid for gravy and served with corn bread. So good!!

Sassy Freezer Slaw

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2014
I just put this in the freezer. I nibbled a bit and I love the dressing! I like the mustard powder in there - it helps off-set the sweetness. I did add a little onion to the slaw. A few of the containers I used will be great for just grabbing for lunch. Can't wait!

Peach Salsa II

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2014
Like many reviewers, I reduced the sugar. This is delicious salsa, and I love having it squirreled away for the winter!

Fried Cabbage II

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2014
Very good! I used red wine vinegar at the end instead of cider vinegar, because I that's the way we ate cabbage growing up. I loved this dish.

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2014
The whole family enjoyed these. Little tweaks I made: I grated the onion and garlic, I added a splash of worchestershire, and a handful of rolled oats. I used 2 lbs ground turkey, but didn't reduce the other ingredients. Really good!

Lucky's Quickie Chickie

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2014
This was indeed quick - it got done before my 20 minute rice method. Next time I think I will add the sauce a little earlier to cook it more so the flavors combine and incorporate into the chicken more. Great recipe!

I have been making this soup for a few year - it is wonderful! I don't even mess with the recipe, except to add salt and pepper. Delicious!

Peach Preserves

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2014
Well, this was a joy to make - no peeling! Luckily my peaches were free-stone, so the whole process was easy. I haven't tasted it yet, but am very happy with the results so far.

Cucumber Raita

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2014
This is just what I was looking for. I added one small clove of garlic and it was perfect for what I remember from the Middle East. I used regular yogurt, which I strained, and I did salt the cucumbers and let them drain also. It was not too watery, just right. Thanks for this recipe!

This was wonderful, and a great way to use fresh raspberries. I made half a batch and I think I always will - it made plenty.
