Roast Beef Tenderloin with Cranberry-Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
I made exactly as written....this was very good and very easy to make. I did not care for the sauce by itself but it does compliment the meat well. I used merlot and cranberry juice for the sauce so it has a strong craberry taste...if you do not care for that kind of flavor you may not like the sauce..I may also try a lighter red wine next time. Like others i ended up using a little cornstarch to thicken and it still came out good. Will make again

Conh Chowdah (Corn Chowder)

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
This is an excellent starting point recipe. I did mostly substitute the heavy cream for 1 fat free half and half, 1 regular half/half and added only about 1/4 cup of the heavy cream just to thicken it a little bit and cut down some on the fat. I also added potatoes to it. Overall this is a great recipe. Everyone raved about it. It is rich and creamy even using mostly the half/half. Taste great after letting it sit over night. Definite keeper. I use all the time

Crab Cakes with Red Pepper Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
I am rating this on the red pepper sauce alone as I have another crab cake recipe I use. I followed the recipe exact for the sauce and it is the perfect compliment for crab cakes.

California Grilled Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
This had really nice flavor and the lemon garlic mayo was delish. However, i did not like the focaccia bread with this. It was too heavy for me. I will make this again and maybe put it in a pita pocket instead. It was also really messy to eat on the bread so i'm thinking the pita may hold it all together a little more. Other than that great recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
this is a good basic meatloaf recipe. I did the recipe as written BEFORE I TRIED THE SUGGESTIONS OF OTHER REVIEWERS..we all have different taste. I notice people try the suggestions of others before trying the recipe as written. This was not the best meatloaf i've ever had but it was really good for a quick, weekday meal. not everything has to be gourmet...sometimes i personally just want tasty and quick. This is exactly that.

Bev's Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
This was ok for me. it had good orange flavor to it, but the onion soup mix was a little to much for me. This did not re-heat well either. This is one of the recipes that had ok flavor but i would work with a little if i made again.

Cucumber Sandwiches II

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
I followed the recipe as written. People did like these, however, I find its one of those appetizers people would eat 1 and that's it. Not something you can really eat a lot of. I think the italian dressing called for was a little overpowering so I will cut down on that if i make them again.

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
These were good but nothing i would rave about. I read alot of complaints from other members that the soy adds a lot of salt..so i used 50% lower sodium soy sauce and found that the salt flavor was not overwhelming. I only used 3 small boneless porkchops and this recipes barely made enough sauce to cover those in the crockpot... so i added a little water. I browned the chops in olive oil before I cooked in crockpot on low for 3 hours. I found that they were not too dry but think they would have been if I cooked any longer. The sauce is very tasty and I actually enjoyed it more over jasmine rice than on the pork chops themselves. I would make the sauce again in the future but most likely will not use on pork chops again.

Fabulous Zucchini Grinders

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2012
I really enjoyed these. They are good as written but i also make with onions and sautee in oil oil. Also, I do not like a lot of sauce on my food so i only put enough sauce to coat the veggies. Delish! I will be keeping this recipe

Zucchini Parmigiana

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2012
This was ok, but it is workable. I think i will do away with the breadcrumbs all together next time. I also sauteed onion and garlic in oilve oil and added them to the layers. I love zucchini and onions together so that was just a personal preference. I will try again without all the bread crumb prep.

G's Flank Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
I followed this recipe exact with no changes and did not care for this much. The marinade itself does not taste bad and the meat was very tender but it completely covers up the taste of the steak. The soy sauce is too much. I don't really enjoy the asian taste when i eat steak. If you enjoy that type of flavor you will most likely enjoy this marinade. I may try this for an oriental steak stir fry but not on a real steak. Thanks for sharing though

Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2013
I did not care for this. The oil and spice mixture came out sort of like a paste and was difficult to mix on all the potatoes in a zip lock bag. I did decrease the temp to 400 and baked for 45 minutes. the spices turned black and they were sort of burnt, I even turned them after 20 minutes. They tasted burnt too. I will not make these again. Thanks for sharing though.

Foil-Pack Taco Chicken Dinner

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2012
Very good and VERY easy for a quick weeknight dinner. I read a lot of people having trouble with the potatoes not being done so i took the chicken out of the oven 1/2 way through and just mixed the potatoes a little around the edges. It seemed to work because all my potatoes were cooked perfectly.

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
Ok, like all my other reviews i made this as written before i made any changes. I really enjoy cream with diced tomatoes. I made this with regular pasta, and heavy cream, which was great of course!! i then made it with whole grain pasta, 1/2 and 1/2, and just a little bit of sausage (i think the recipe calls for too much sausage). I still thought it was excellent. Of course it depends on your taste. I think it is a winner either as written or in the lower fat version.

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta

I really enjoyed this. I made sauce exactly as written and was very good. Since then i have made several times to suit my taste. It is excellent if you add chicken strips, peas or asparagus and lots and lots of garlic! YUM
