Wild Rice Casserole I

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
OMG!!!!!!!!! This stuff is the best rice dish ever!!!! I used sharp cheddar instead of American cheese (only because I never buy American cheese because we don't normally prefer that kind) we are not big onion eaters so I just used 1 small sweet onion and pulverized it in my food chopper! I absolutely loved this dish and ate the leftovers for two days after! I did use unsalted butter as some of the other reviewers suggested but I am confident that using salted butter next time will not make the dish too salty! I am so grateful that you posted this recipe!!!!! I have decided I am going to experiment with it further and see if I can come up with something almost the same but using just plain brown rice (because I always have brown rice on hand). Thank you sooooo much!!

Slow Cooker Thanksgiving Turkey

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
I really wanted to try this recipe but when I went to the market I found that the turkey breasts were a little out of my budget. I had three whole chickens at home all ready so I just picked up the spices and a can of chicken gravy. other than that I followed the recipe to the "T" and it was wonderful. I had so much left over because my family consists of two adults and two small children. So I added 1 cup of water and a chiken bullion to the "gravy" and two more tablespoons of flour and 1/2 cup of cold water. I finished pulling the chicken off of the bone added that and between 2-4 cups of cooked rice. I did this to freeze and use later as a chicken and rice dish. of course I tasted it before I froze it and from now on I will serve this as a chicken and rice dish. I also can't wait to try it with the turkey!!!!!

Jan's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
OMG!!! So moist and very good chocolate flavor. I have been searching for good homemade chocolate cake recipe for a very long time. I was nervous about making it because it is so easy to burn chocolate cake. I used three 9 inch round pans and baked for 25 mins exactly. I checked it at 20 just to be sure and it was still a little gooey, baked it for 5 more mins and it was perfect!!! This will be my new chocolate cake recipe from now on!!!! I frosted it using a very old recipe for "Fluffy butter frosting" and it complemented it so well. The icing was the perfect sweetness--sweet but not to sweet--for this cake. This was excellent!!! It is my 5 yr old's birthday cake and he loves it!!! Thanks mom 71

Dirt Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2013
This is an excellent recipe! However, some reviewers have said they put the whipped cream on top and in my opinion that takes away from the desert. If it is done that way then it is no longer dirt cake it is simply a parfait. You do not have to use butter to make a crust if you don't want to. Crushed cookies work well as the bottom layer (this is how we always do it). Last, to avoid lumps of cream cheese just beat the cream cheese prior to adding it to the pudding mixture. You can even beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar together before adding it to the pudding!
