About this Cook
I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada which has 2 months of summer, 8 months of winter and 2 months of inbetween - thats why we call it Winterpeg. I live with my partner, our 3 cats and our newest addition, the puppy. I am a vegetarian but I cook with meat for the rest of my family and have a large Sunday dinner.
My favorite things to cook
If I cook meat I mostly cook chicken -- some of the favorites are orange chicken and chicken wings with homemade sweet BBQ sauce. I also like making nachos, pizza, perogies, soup and anything Mexican. I love doing Christmas baking! The more intricate the better.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chili, stew, noodles for chicken noodle soup and homemade rolls. Things we don't even need recipes for anymore.
My cooking triumphs
Carrot cake

Maids-of-Honor
I have been using this recipe for years for Christmas dainties. Its the only one that I have seen that uses Sherry and I have not changed a thing about this recipe. I use a variety of jams for the tarts - raspberry, strawberry, marmalade, wild plum jam - whatever you have will work!

World's Best Lasagna
I made the sauce from this recipe and assembled my lasagna a little differently. I doubled the sauce using half the amount of tomato paste and like another review suggested I omitted the salt. I used lots of fresh basil rather then dried. And because I am vegetarian I left out the meat and used one package of Yves Veggie Ground Round instead. The sauce is AMAZING. You can use it for any kind of pasta. I made a veggie lasagna with the sauce, layering noodles and sauce and one layer of red pepper and one layer of mushroom. Turned out really well!

Grilled Orange Chicken
I cook this for my family all the time. I use a dash of dry sage and it works just as well. I also use boneless chicken breasts and it is wonderful. You can also cook this in the oven in the sauce and it is just as tasty as on the grill!
