About this Cook
My cooking experience only goes back to the mid 1990s, so although I've been cooking for over ten years, I know there is still much I can learn from those who have been cooking for decades longer.
My favorite things to cook
I love the "hiss!" sound when food hits a hot skillet; chicken, vegetables, even eggs!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have some fabulous memories of cooking with my mom during the holidays...

Cut-Out Cookies in a Flower Pot
Without any icing, these turned out more like a tea biscuit than a cookie. In fact, if I were reviewing a tea biscuit recipe, I'd give it 5 stars. As a cookie, however, this is a 3-star recipe at best. I halved the recipe and kept out some of the flour, as an earlier reviewer had suggested. That way, when I dusted with flour before rolling, I wouldn't be adding extra flour. The cookies turned out 'just o.k.' and nothing special. We'll eat these and continue looking for a really good sugar cookie recipe.

Banana Smoothie II
My youngest child is an extremely picky eater and will often turn up his nose at protein items he has eaten in the past. That said, I made him this smoothie (cut in half since he's still small) with pasteurized egg whites. I left out the wheat germ and nutmeg. He LOVED it. Hooray!

Muesli Bars II
These definitely didn't turn out as I expected. We can't really taste the peanut butter, even though I used ALL peanut butter (and no almond butter). However, for a recipe to use up the puffed rice cereal no one was going to eat anyway, it was a success. I won't make it again, though.
