I wanted to post some easy and cheap recipes that students can make on a busy day. The first one will be my twist on my mother's chili recipe. I make mine in large batches, so that I can freeze a few bowls of it to be heated up later, such as after I get back from an afternoon class, or just… MORE

About this Cook
I'm a writer (fiction, paranormal non-fiction, and poetry), a paranormal investigator, and I love to cook.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts. Potatoes, because of their versatility. Soups and healthy recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Don't really have family cooking traditions; my mother doesn't like to cook, so most of our meals were canned, frozen, or quickly thrown together.
My cooking tragedies
First time cooking steak, tried to broil it and ended up with leather! Lol

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints
YUM! I absolutely love these! The only changes I made were to add 1/4 cup of extra flour, as another reviewer suggested, and I only used 1/2 a teaspoon of almond extract for the glaze instead of 3/4. Mine did not spread at all, but after I pressed them and put the jam in the centers I popped them in the freezer for about 3 - 5 minutes before putting them in the oven. These are really delicious, and I'll be making them again!

Delightful Apple Spice Muffins
These were SO good! The only changes I made were to halve the recipe, since I live by myself, and I used twice the cinnamon since I didn't have any allspice. These turned out great, very moist and great flavor.

Apple Squares
These were so delicious! I omitted the walnuts since I didn't have any, but otherwise followed the recipe as written. My one complaint is the baking time. Even after baking an extra 5 minutes they still turned out a lot goo-ier than I expected, but they still tasted great, and my family ate them up.
